Foodie Friday: Pumpkin Perfect Recipes

Have you had a taste of pumpkin yet? Last Friday at Adalina Restaurant, we had the yummiest dessert of warm apple cider donuts filled with pumpkin puree and covered with caramel sauce. Oh My! So I was in the mood for pumpkin spice and everything nice today. This recipe roundup features both sweet and savory pumpkin dishes. Enjoy it all.

Pumpkin Spice White Russian
Is it dessert or a cocktail? It sure looks creamy and dreamy. That cinnamon sugar rim is perfection.

Pumpkin Queso
Oh boy does this look good. Queso, if you haven't had it before, is a bit like Swiss Fondue. It's cheesy,  gooey, and you dip tortillas or corn chips in it. Yummy.

Pumpkin & Brie Crostini with Candied Nuts
What a perfect appetizer for this time of year! These may look fancy, but no worries, anyone can make them. My hosting experience tells me that guests really love a good crostini.

Mile High Pumpkin Pie
Each year I try to find a pumpkin pie that beats last years. Regular pumpkin pie is just boring to me. This recipe takes pumpkin pie to a new level. How could that mile high heaping of meringue not be fabulous?

Roasted Garlic & Sage Pesto Pumpkin Soup
The garlic, sage and homemade pesto takes this pumpkin soup up many  notches. Turns out it is a Half Baked Harvest recipe but I found it at....

Pumpkin Risotto With Goat Cheese and Dried Cranberries
For a girl who never eats rice, risotto is one of my favorite foods. Go figure. This recipe will be made before the year is out. It features an earthiness combined with a creamy zing from the goat cheese and cranberries.

Spiced Pumpkin Dip
What a fun dessert or afternoon snack. It will taste just like Pumpkin Cheesecake, but it is easier to make. Whip it up in minutes, then provide your guests all of your favorites to dip, like cookies, apple slices, marshmallows etc.

Sage Butter Pumpkin Cheese Ravioli
A brand new recipe from Tieghan. It sure looks like a bowl of comfort!

Healthy Pumpkin Pancakes
I am still not sure if I need my pancakes to be healthy, but if they can look this good, why not? These are made with whole wheat flour. This recipe also calls for oat milk, but feel free to use what works best for you.

Pumpkin Chicken Chili
I have a feeling that this will be your "go to" fall chili recipe. I am going to try it this weekend.

No Churn Pumpkin Cheesecake Ice Cream
Now this alone or on top of pumpkin pie is a dessert worth the calories. No churn means no machine needed. I make it all of the time. The recipe is as easy as ice cream and pie.

Fall Harvest Salad With Pumpkin Goddess Dressing
This recipe is filled with textures and tastes. The dressing looks amazing, and it is made with plain Greek style yogurt and pure maple syrup. Add some protein like grilled chicken to make it a meal.

Pumpkin Lasagna with Fontina
I have never used fontina in my lasagna, but it sounds delish. This recipe takes advantage of all the fall vegetables. Also for those of you who enjoy a shortcut, it is made with a jar of pasta sauce.

Pumpkin Spice French Toast with Cider Syrup
Leave it to Tieghan to give us this fabulous French Toast recipe! If you have not had stuffed French Toast before, you need to try this one. It takes your basic breakfast beyond delicious.

Smoky Pumpkin Bisque With Grilled Cheese Croutons
If pesto and garlic aren't your thing, as in the above pumpkin soup, try this. Those grilled cheese croutons just may take the prize!

Baked Pumpkin Cake Donuts With Maple Glaze & Toasted Coconut
Here is fall in one bite.  Love that they are baked and not fried.

Spicy Pumpkin Fries
{ Paleo & Whole 30 }
Something I have not tried. Have you? I can only imagine that they are yummy, as I love sweet potato fries. These are served with a homemade Chipotle Lime Mayo. Yes, please!

Pumpkin Cupcake With Marshmallow Frosting
Oh do I love a good marshmallow frosting! I have never made it, though. This cupcake is frosted then drizzled with homemade caramel. How decadent!

Foodie Friday: The Flavors Of Fall

Besides falling leaves and sweater weather, fall features some of the most fabulous flavors of the year. Of course, pumpkin spice comes to mind, but there is also the savory smell of sage, juicy apples, maple syrup, cinnamon, and cider. This recipe roundup features all of that and more.

Smoky Harvest Apple Cider Margarita
This recipe had me at "smoky" which I know means Mezcal. The best margarita of my life involved that type of tequila. It's a game changer.

Pumpkin Hummus
I have made pumpkin hummus before, and make my own hummus weekly. This recipe features cinnamon, cumin, cayenne and even maple syrup. All the fall flavors.

Fuji Apple Chicken Salad With Creamy Champagne Vinaigrette
Don't you just love a pretty salad? Those homemade apple chips give it so much style, too. Delicious for lunch or dinner!

Pumpkin Pie Overnight Oats
Gluten Free
Oh my, apple pie? This breakfast is worth waking up early for. These vibrant oats are naturally sweetened, subtly spiced, and incredibly satisfying.
Good morning!

Maple Turkey Chili
I am so ready for a good bowl of chili. If you are trying to eat healthy, this recipe is for you, as it is made with lean turkey. And by lean, I mean turkey breast. The secret sauce, of course, is the maple syrup. Sounds like fall.
How Sweet Eats

Spiced Pumpkin Maple Latte
I don't even drink coffee, but this looks so good to me. Like autumn in a mug. Spoiler alert: there's homemade apple butter involved.
Half Baked Harvest

Easy Swirled Cinnamon Sugar Croissant Loaf
How would you like to wake up to this? It is said to be super easy, but I must admit that I am intimidated by a recipe that calls for yeast. If you are not, this loaf looks divine.

Bacon-Latticed Apple Pie
Well, I am sorry that I didn't discover this recipe last week for the Spotlight On Apples post. What's not to love about blending beautiful bacon strips with sweet apples, and bourbon infused crust? It is surely a sensation of sweet and salty!

Crispy Roasted Potatoes with Thyme
Four simple ingredients create this delicious dish. They are the perfect partner for pork tenderloin, turkey (bookmark it for Thanksgiving) or grilled fish.

Chile-Maple Roast Chicken
This recipe by Antoni Porowski is for "Mr. Shop This" His dream meal would be a roasted chicken.   Can't you just imagine how it smells while roasting?

Italian Pot Roast
This stick to your ribs dish is served over garlic smashed potatoes. Or to be totally Italian, serve it over creamy polenta. Just YUM!

Creamy Roasted Pumpkin Pasta With Fried Sage & Chili Pumpkin Seeds
This recipe uses the whole pumpkin with no waste at all. It starts with roasted pumpkin. Have you ever had it? Oh it is good. It has a sweet caramel flavor. And if you have not tried fried sage before, it is also yummy.

Candied Bacon Fig Bruschetta
Oh how elegant! And is there anyone that really doesn't like bacon? It's made with goat cheese, honey or maple syrup, figs, bacon, and bread.

Autumn Apple Bourbon Fizz
This is an apple butter cocktail, if you can believe. "You shake apple butter and bourbon together with ice. That’s it!" Then you add a little ginger ale or ginger beer on top with a cinnamon stick for good measure.

Artichoke, Shallot, and Fig Pizza
Perhaps the prettiest pizza I have ever seen. It features a magic sauce that is a combination of artichoke hearts, garlic, parmesan cheese, lemon, walnuts, and rosemary blitzed together in a food processor. How unique!

16 Retro Recipes That Deserve A Comeback

Just what we need, another hour of 2020! As you know, we turn back the clock on Sunday.  So in keeping with the theme of "going back," let's take a step back in time. This Foodie Friday remembers  the family-friendly fare that we enjoyed growing up. Enjoy the nostalgic nosh!

Bourbon Sloppy Joes
One of my favorite childhood foods! I always requested it for my birthday parties, without the bourbon. Today, bring that bourbon on. This recipe has a gourmet touch that I am sure is delicious.

Beef Stroganoff
This was a specialty of mine for many years. It always seemed like an elegant choice to serve. It's rich with both heavy and sour cream. I always served it on rice, but you can use noodles, too.

Mom's Spanish Rice
This one is for "Mr. Shop This." His Mom, Laura, made it best. Punch up your version with extra chili and a squeeze of lime.

Magnolia Bakery Banana Pudding
My Mom made a great banana pudding and taught me how to do it early on. Did you grow up with it, too? It wasn't until about ten years ago, that I had the best banana pudding of my life. It was at the iconic Magnolia Bakery in NYC. Kids, this stuff is addictive! Here's the secret recipe.

French Onion Mac and Cheese
As far as I can remember, my Mom made us the box mac 'n cheese. Which we loved, but I wouldn't think of serving it today. Caramelized onions are my must have ingredient. So this elevated recipe really caught my eye. It's the Mac & Cheese grown up edition!

Autumn and Chicken Phyllo Pot Pies
Not exactly the same frozen pot pies that we ate as a child or in college. This is the gourmet version, and they look so delicious. Don't worry, an easier more classic recipe made with canned soup is included, too. Just scroll down.

Lime Jello Salad
I am pretty sure that there never was a meal for any kind of crowd without the jello salad. Truth is, everyone loved it, and we probably still would. When was the last time that you were served it? This recipe is fancied up by using mini molds and a decorative presentation. Mom didn't do that.

Spicy Ranch Chex Mix
Oh the Tupperware containers filled with homemade Chex Mix we had! I was crazy for my Mom's version, but Tieghan's recipe takes this standby snack up many notches. The Ranch Seasoning is key!

French Onion Dip
Did you ever look at the back of the box of French Onion Soup? It is so unhealthy. I have been making my own dip for years. No soup mix here! Rich caramelized onions and a splash of sherry are the secret to this flavor-packed dip.

Pumpkin Twinkie
Just in time for Halloween. These will take us all back to when we could eat anything we wanted.

Chicken Pot Pie
This recipe is most likely more what your Mom made. It is a simple version made with canned soup and pre made pie crust. But feel free to create your own soup. Still looks good.
Our Best Bites

Maple-Glazed Turkey Meatloaf With Bacon & Butternut Squash

This modern and healthier take on a 50's fave, kind of puts my Mom's version to shame. Shhh!
Delish

New Tuna Casserole with Potato Chips
Another one of my childhood faves. And yes, the chips were mandatory. This recipe however features fresh veggies, but still calls for the canned tuna.

Creamy Roasted Tomato Soup
Most of us grew up on Campbell's Tomato Soup. And it was good, but oh so unhealthy. Our Mamas thought they were giving us something warm and nutritious. Not. But this recipe is, and it is made without heavy cream. A humble potato naturally thickens the soup!

Waldorf Salad
I can't remember a special dinner or holiday without a Waldorf Salad. It was so good, and I bet it still would be today. One hint, that we didn't do back in the day: Toast the walnuts before mixing the salad!

Simple Baked Italian Meatballs
I bet that I have your attention now! This dish will take you back, if you are Italian, to your Grandma's meatballs. I bet that "you know who" will request these this weekend.
