As Easy As Pie

Somehow I lost a week in planning Thanksgiving "Foodie Fridays."  So I thought, "Why not Wednesdays?" This week, we are eating dessert first, then turkey on Friday. I am a cake girl myself, but one must eat pie on Turkey day.  This recipe roundup is beyond yummy, if I say so myself.  Included in the post are some terrific tools that will make your Thanksgiving dessert, well, easy as pie!

Gingerbread Slab Pie
Here's a new twist on a holiday classic - Gingerbread. The author states "It’s part gingerbread cookie, part tart raspberry pie, and entirely delicious." What more can we want?

Bourbon Pecan Pie
What's pecan pie without a little bourbon? This recipe is said to be so easy to make, that it is downright dangerous!

Cranberry and Lemon Curd Pie
If you can believe, this pie crust is made on the grill. How different, right?  That crust is made from gingersnap cookies. It's just so holiday-ish!

Sweet Potato Pie
I have never had the opportunity to try this southern specialty, which is surprising since my family is from the South. This beauty is finished off with a kitchen torch. I want it. Scroll down for one that's on sale.

Pastry Cutter
Ever wonder how those pie crusts look so pretty? It's because the baker had a professional tool like this.  My mother had one.

Dutch Caramel Apple Pie
This recipe levels up the average apple pie.  It's all drizzled with a homemade salted caramel sauce.

Cashew-Crusted Caramel Cream Pie
This recipe had me at every word! And that meringue - Wow!

Rosle Kitchen Torch
High-heat kitchen torch caramelizes crème brûlée, roasts peppers, skins tomatoes and much more. How handy to have, especially on sale.

Chocolate Pumpkin Pie
Every dinner needs a little chocolate. Here you go. This recipe eliminates the intimidation homemade dough, and uses chocolate wafer cookies for the crust.  The swirls are simple but stunning.

Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream Pie With Salted Bourbon Caramel
This pie is larger than life!  And what better time to go big than on Thanksgiving? Best yet, you don't even have to make the ice cream. Store bought works well.

Chocolate Tart with Pomegranates and Hazelnuts
When pumpkin pie just won't do. The filling is a rich chocolate ganache. Sign me up.
Dulce de Leche Pumpkin Pie
Caramel and pumpkin? Oh yes please. As the author states: "The dulce de leche flavor is subtle, but it gives the pie a nice undertone of caramelized sugar and depth of flavor, that most pumpkin pies are missing." Agreed.

Pie Box
The perfect thing if you are serious about the safety of your pies. It's also a great gift for bakers!

Deep Dish Apple Pie
I have made a version of this, but added homemade caramel sauce. It was a hit. Don't be intimidated by that crust. You make it in a springform pan, which keeps it all together. It is worth the effort.

Pumpkin Mousse Pie
This is how I prefer my pumpkin - as a mousse. I actually love to make any kind of mousse. This is a "no bake" recipe which makes it easy to do ahead.  The icing on this pie, is actually white chocolate curls. Oh my!

French Kitchen Marble Rolling Pin
This beautiful rolling pin is hefty enough to handle the toughest of doughs. It's almost too pretty to put away. A fab find for less than $25.

Gluten Free Dairy Free Pumpkin Pie
This gorgeous concoction is really over the top. The fact that it is gluten free is a big bonus. It's made with coconut cream!
