Somehow I lost a week in planning Thanksgiving "Foodie Fridays." So I thought, "Why not Wednesdays?" This week, we are eating dessert first, then turkey on Friday. I am a cake girl myself, but one must eat pie on Turkey day. This recipe roundup is beyond yummy, if I say so myself. Included in the post are some terrific tools that will make your Thanksgiving dessert, well, easy as pie!

Cranberry and Lemon Curd Pie
If you can believe, this pie crust is made on the grill. How different, right? That crust is made from gingersnap cookies. It's just so holiday-ish!I have never had the opportunity to try this southern specialty, which is surprising since my family is from the South. This beauty is finished off with a kitchen torch. I want it. Scroll down for one that's on sale.
Pastry Cutter
Ever wonder how those pie crusts look so pretty? It's because the baker had a professional tool like this. My mother had one.

When pumpkin pie just won't do. The filling is a rich chocolate ganache. Sign me up.
Caramel and pumpkin? Oh yes please. As the author states: "The dulce de leche flavor is subtle, but it gives the pie a nice undertone of caramelized sugar and depth of flavor, that most pumpkin pies are missing." Agreed.
Pie Box
The perfect thing if you are serious about the safety of your pies. It's also a great gift for bakers!

I have made a version of this, but added homemade caramel sauce. It was a hit. Don't be intimidated by that crust. You make it in a springform pan, which keeps it all together. It is worth the effort.

This is how I prefer my pumpkin - as a mousse. I actually love to make any kind of mousse. This is a "no bake" recipe which makes it easy to do ahead. The icing on this pie, is actually white chocolate curls. Oh my!
This beautiful rolling pin is hefty enough to handle the toughest of doughs. It's almost too pretty to put away. A fab find for less than $25.
