Saturdays At Shop This

Last Dance. I am going to miss these two.  This week we will close a chapter in history, and begin to write a new one. Here's hoping that the next chapter has a happy ending.  This Saturday I dedicate the blog to all things Michelle, a woman I greatly admire.

Loved this Vogue article about The First Lady, "A Farewell to Michelle Obama’s Flawless Arms." You will love the pics.

On her first Inauguration, Michelle wore a Thom Browne coat and dress. It was and remains my favorite outfit of hers in 8 years. Barneys has his designs, if you want to take a peek.

And for the first Inauguration Ball, Her lovely flowing white outfit was created by Jason Wu. You can see his current collection and some sale at Saks.

One of her greatest accomplishments was the "Let's Move" campaign to combat obesity in children.  And who can forget her dancing to Uptown Funk on the Ellen show? Let's remember, Michelle was trying to get kids to move! And she did.

As part of her healthy living initiative for children, The First Lady planted a very special garden, to help get children interested in eating healthy, and appreciating fresh veggies. In 2012, she published the book, "American Grown: The Story of the White House Kitchen Garden and Gardens Across America." You can find it at Amazon.

The First Lady is a home town girl of Chicago, just like me. In the early days of her husband's presidency, her wardrobe was discreetly handled by Ikram Goldman of Chicago's finest boutique, Ikram. The boutique carried designers like Isabel Toledo and other designers Michelle loved. I highly recommend this stylish store for the best of Chicago fashion.

Did you catch Flotus on her last Jimmy Fallon appearance as first lady? The woman is good! She's fun, smart, and stylish. Her Givenchy outfit was one of my personal favorites, which you can see HERE.  You can find yourself some Givenchy zippers at Neiman Marcus.

Sasha and Malia have been lucky girls in the fashion department, too. They stepped out in style on the first inauguration day in J. Crew. Malia wore a Cinq a Sept dress last week at her Father's goodbye address. You can find it at Neiman's. And both girls really stepped up their style in 2016 wearing Naeem Khan at their first State Dinner. You can shop one of these pricey but gorgeous designs at Bergdorf Goodman.

If you are like me, and can't get enough information about Michelle, you may want to read the just published book about her. "The Meaning of Michelle." 16 Writers on the iconic First Lady and how her journey inspires our own.

P.S. Apologies for the unusual look of the font in this post. I have spent the morning trying to get rid of this little cyber bug.
