Foodie Friday: Turkey & The Trimmings. Recipes & More

With only 2 Fridays before Thanksgiving, of course we had to tackle the main event - turkey and the trimmings. Next week's post will feature all things special for Thanksgiving dessert. This year I want you to think outside of tradition. Have fun with your menu and get creative. Think peach, ginger, burrata, bourbon, and pomegranate.  And for goodness sakes, make your own cranberry sauce! Here's inspiration for your best ever Thanksgiving turkey and trimmings.

HERE: 25 Recipes To Savor

Maple Cream And Apple Butter  Brie Cheese Crostini Bar
The only appetizer that you need!  If you are having a crowd, this cheese course is company ready. Even if you aren't having many people, just scale it down for the number of guests eating.  To help you get the look, find the Thankful Plates at Crate & Barrel. The author used 2 Slate Cheese Boards for the presentation. The colorful Cheese Knives come as a set and they are fabulous!

Peach and Ginger Roast Turkey
I probably have never made the same turkey recipe more than once. Creativity is what makes me happy in the kitchen. This recipe is so interesting with an Asian inspired Peach Glaze.

Pear, Chestnut, and Sage Dressing
Here's a five star recipe from the folks that know. I always use apples. Pears sound interesting, too!

Cheesy Sweet Potato Kale Galette
{gluten-free, whole-grain}
A galette is so easy to create, as you don't have to be perfectly precise with the crust. This is an impressive and healthy dish.

Whole Roasted Cauliflower and Whipped Goat Cheese
This is the best thing that I have seen all day. Precooking the cauliflower in seasoned poaching liquid infuses it with flavor; roasting makes it crisp.

Honey Butter Roasted Acorn With Burrata And Pomegranate
Raise your hand if you don't like Burrata. Just what I thought. Anyone I know that has tried it, loved it. Four simple ingredients, acorn squash, butter, brown sugar, and salt.....and buratta. It makes a fabulous appetizer or side dish.

Bourbon Vanilla Cranberry Sauce
The most important dish on the table in my view. And I always make it myself. This recipe is a must make!

Peking Cranberry Lacquered Turkey
How unique! This recipe features flavors of sambal coconut oil, tamari, hoisin sauce , brown sugar and more. Sounds absolutely delicious!

Baguette, Smoked Oyster, and Pancetta Stuffing
If you like oysters in your stuffing, like I do, you will love the stuffing even more with tart lemons on top. Oh Yum!

5-Ingredient Red-Wine Cranberry Sauce
You don't need to be 21 to enjoy this sauce, but it does have a 1/3 a bottle of wine in it.

Brussels Sprouts Gratin
Brussels are a must on our holiday table. Haven't tried them with cheese yet. Yum.

Parker House Rolls
And these aren't the Pepperidge Farm rolls that were on your childhood table. Just look at all of the thyme!

Easy Twice Baked Sweet Potatoes
I always bake my sweets before I whip them, so this would be a natural way to serve them. This is a savory recipe, for a little something different. Baked sweet potatoes, combined with shallots, thyme, butter, and delicious Fontina cheese, all sounds wonderful.

Butter and White Wine Roasted Turkey With Gravy
A simple recipe that yields perfect results except that 16 ounces of water in the gravy!!! Please use wine or cream. Why waste an opportunity for added flavor?

Pumpkin Sage Biscuits
{ Vegan }
These biscuits are infused with both pumpkin puree and fresh sage, giving them an earthy, autumnal flavor.

Buttermilk Bacon Blue Smashed Potatoes
Bacon is everything in potatoes. I always use cheese but never blue. Sounds fabulous!

Individual Pumpkin and Potato Gratins with Gruyere and Sage
Don't you love individual servings? They make service so easy, and everything is beautifully presented. What's not to love about loads of cheese, lots of cream, all layered between perfectly uniform potatoes – so comforting.

Pumpkin Bread Stuffing With Candied Bacon and Pecans
Each year, one of the three breads I mix in the stuffing is Whole Foods Pumpkin Bread. So I know it is a fabulous ingredient. This recipe is a bit nontraditional with its' sweet profile. Just how I like it.

Cream Of Pumpkin Soup With Maple Pecans
A beautiful first course. It's said to be "Sweet, creamy, and topped with the most delicious maple pecans (possibly the best thing to ever be put on top of soup) and served in roasted sugar pumpkins." And if you didn't want to be so formal about this course. Do what I did last year.  Casually pour soup into clear glasses and offer to your guests as a tasting, while they await the last minute preparations. It was fun!

Grill Roasted Turkey
My sister grills hers every year, and it is always just the best. I have  a little problem with the lack of seasoning on this recipe, but maybe that is the secret. And grilling outside saves all kinds of room in the oven for sides.

Roasted Carrots with Calimyrna Fig Dressing
Roasted rainbow carrots always make a statement. When they are topped with a port wine-and-fig dressing, they just might get a round of applause!

Thanksgiving Stuffing Rolls
Aren't these gorgeous? They are said to taste like stuffing or even better. The recipe is very interesting. Worth a look!

Stuffing-Muffins with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy
{ Vegan and Gluten Free }
Now how cute are these? Best yet, you can do them ahead of time. And the gravy is a Miso gravy. Very interesting.

Bourbon Bacon Whipped Sweet Potatoes with Brown Butter and Crispy Sage
Nothing could sound better to me than this. The bourbon will really elevate this traditional dish.

Grand Mariner Cranberry Sauce
I can attest that Grand Mariner and cranberries are the perfect pairing.
