What To Wear Wednesday: The Office Holiday Party

The office Holiday party can be tricky. It's hard for employees, bosses, and spouses alike. Your mode of dress depends on the location of the event. If it is in the office, your normal work clothing is probably fine. Parties in fine restaurants or hotels call for a dressed up look. Invited to the bosses home? Your look certainly should be dressy or cocktail, but probably not formalwear.  In all cases, leave your "sexy" at home, be festive but appropriate. You want to stand out for your performance on the job not on your dress at the party. Get inspired with this selection of.......

Barneys Warehouse

Halston Embroidered Asymmetric Dress
The girl in red always has a good time. Love this dress! It can be appropriate for a formal party or one a little more casual.

Red Valentino Dress With Faux Fur Skirt
How fun is this? It's cozy yet ever so chic. I just love the peek of crinoline at the hemline.

Sequin Tuxedo Dress
Tux inspired, this dress dazzles yet has a demure vibe.

Anna Sui Scalloped Top
Didn't get that raise? If you can't afford a new outfit, maybe just this very versatile top is all you need. Throw it over your fave LBD and go! On off duty hours, it can dress up jeans with a little vintage flair.

By Malene Birger Mathilde Sequin Patchwork Top
Festive but not flashy. This is a lovely look appropriate to wear to the boss's home!

Herve Leger Bandage Dress
A glam update to a bodycon dress. A fabulously simple frock. See it on the runway at

Lauren Ralph Lauren Satin Dress
This dress caught my attention with its' sophisticated pairing of blue and black. It is simple, stretchy and so very figure flattering. A budget buy and smart choice.

Diane Von Furstenberg Wrap Dress
DVF's iconic wrap dresses are always classic. This one has been updated a bit with a fit and flair shape. Love the print for spreading good cheer at the party!

San Marcos Mini Dress
By For Love and Lemons, this brocade beauty is business in front and a party in the back. Click through to see the rear view of the plunging back neckline. Wear it to work with a blazer, for two different looks.

Maggy London
Illusion Yoke Crepe Sheath Dress
THE perfect little black dress for any occasion. This style caught my eye as it also comes in petite sizes and is available in three colors. I think you will love the price.
Nordstrom

Alice + Olivia Tess Crewneck And Rina Tulle Skirt
Isn't this pretty? Youthful and party perfect for a dressed up event. Love the different textures.
Neiman Marcus

Love to Love You Peplum Jumpsuit
I love a good evening jumpsuit. And this simple look has a lot going for it like - Wide-leg silhouette, light padding at bust, gripper tape around neckline, and blind stitching at hems. If there is no changing before the party, wear this to the office covered with a bolero or jacket.
Nasty Gal

TIBI Escalante Silk-Satin Skirt
Ladylike and modern, this shiny silk skirt has a luxe look.
Saks Fifth Avenue

Midnight Romance Midi Dress
I may have saved the best for last. Zimmermann's embroidered cotton silk dress is just gorgeous. If you are intrigued, click through for a zoom view.
