Clean Beauty Swaps for 2019

{ Via: Goop }

I spent a good amount of time last year studying clean food, clean beauty, and the effects of chemicals in our lives.  My conclusion is that we are what we eat and what we apply to our skin. All of those chemicals are hurting us. I've made the switch to clean eating already except for all of that holiday sugar, but the beauty products are still a work in progress.  Real change is normally gradual.  Today I share healthy and natural products for our bodies. Won't you join me in my quest be treat my body better in the New Year?

Here's Where To Start First
~ Sunscreen ~

Doctors and commercials push the use of sunscreen, and the fear of the sun, but you rarely hear about how harmful "chemical" sunscreens actually are. I never fear the sun, it is actually good for us. It's the added chemicals in some sunscreens that are dangerous. So this year, swap out your chemical sunscreen for a "Mineral Sunscreen"

Juicy Beauty SPF 30 Sport Sunscreen
I used this product all last Summer.  It's water resistant, chemical‑free SPF with broad spectrum sun protection for the ultimate sun and sport fun. I never burnt once and really enjoyed the scent. It's well worth the $16 price point. And save 20% until the 7th
with Code: SILVER

Vive Sana Organic Mineral Sunscreen
On the higher priced end, Vive Sana gets rave reviews from  Vogue, Goop & Departures Magazine. This new sun care brand is super natural in every way possible. Vive Sana’s waterless formulas don’t require any fillers or preservatives and are packed with good-for-your-skin naturals like antioxidant astaxanthin, argan, and licorice root. All ingredients are natural, and 70 percent of them are certified organic. The daily serum is rich and hydrating enough to replace your everyday moisturizer.

~ Body Wash and Bath Soaks ~

According to Goop "Conventional body wash can expose you to potential irritants, endocrine disruptors, and other toxins in two ways: Skin absorbs whatever you put on it much more readily if it’s wet, but you also breathe in the same potentially harmful ingredients through the shower steam." I can attest to this by just reading the back of a shower gel I happen to own.....after bathing, my skin is always itchy, and after reading the back of this "Suave" bottle, I can see why. I cannot pronounce one ingredient!  Try the following instead

goop Body G.Day Ginger + Ashwagandha
Energy Body Wash
This plant based body cleanser leaves your skin refreshed, your spirits uplifted, and your mind clear. This is thanks to the fresh organic roots of ginger and ashwagandha. The slightly spicy scent comes from the power of Japanese Shisho leaf, Indian black pepper oil, and pink peppercorn berries. Sounds divine!

goop Bath Soaks
Santa came through for me this year. I asked for these and received several packages of  G. Night Bedtime Soak. At first I was disappointed that there wasn't any bubbles. And one could be put off by the color of your water - it's brown! But soon I was enjoying my steamy soak in a bath of pure botanicals. Most of all, I was happy that this product was actually
good for me.

~ Body Lotion ~

Body lotion gets smoothed over more of your body than any other beauty product.  Since a good deal of what you put on your skin is absorbed, clean and nontoxic makes so much sense. According to Goop: "Consider that the European Union has banned over 1,300 ingredients in beauty products, while the FDA has outlawed just 11." I find this just criminal. We must educate ourselves!

Grown Alchemist Body Cream
 Mandarin And Rosemary Leaf
Doesn't that sound delightful? Said to be ultra luxurious, this cream is made with pomegranate and shea butters mixed with antioxidant almond, grape-seed, and rose hip oils, leaving skin softer. And how about that packaging? It is available in two sizes.

Natural Body Lotion And Body Butter
With only pure and premium natural ingredients like French Lavender, Blood Orange, Green Tea, natural and organic flavors and more, these sound good enough to eat. Quite affordable, too.

~ Shampoos And Conditioners ~

This category will be the hardest for me to swap out. I absolutely adore my Living Proof hair products. The line does wonders for my hairstyle, but there are words that I cannot pronounce. That means toxins and chemicals. Hair care is a particularly toxin-laden category in conventional beauty.

Innersense Hydrating Cream Hair Bath & Conditioner
Beauty editors rave about this Natural beauty line. It's perfectly formulated to hydrate and smooth hair all at once, leaving it bouncy with great shine.  The conditioner features Rice bran oil, aloe vera, avocado oil, and sunflower extract combine with shea butter to strengthen and smooth hair, reducing frizz and leaving your hair super managable.

Rahua Haircare
Made with organic, natural, pure plant derived ingredients. Symbiotic, vegan, non-toxic and free of parabens, sulfates and gluten. Classic Shampoo delivers a fortifying, restorative, and scalp balancing cleanse, featuring the purifying powers of Palo Santo Oil. The entire line sounds amazing.

~ What I Use ~

Ann Marie Skincare
Thanks to my knowledgable friend, Hania, I have begun using Ann Marie Skincare for about 6 weeks. My complexion feels so much better, cleaner, and smoother since I have begun. Most of all, I know that I am not hurting the biggest organ in my body, my skin, with chemicals. My mind feels at ease because I know that I am using organic and wild crafted ingredients—that promises beautiful, glowing skin. And it does. I use the Restore Collection. You might enjoy one of the sample packs to give it a try. My favorite product is the Aloe Herb Facial Cleanser. It smells so fresh and is gentle enough to use on your eyes.  Buy it at
