Foodie Friday: Party Platter Recipes & More

{ Via: Tiffany LaBelle }

Even though Summer is waning, I would like to think that we still have a Summer soiree in our future. One last bash, where we invite some friends and family, and send Summer off in style. It could be a cookout or a garden party, but let's all plan one last party (at least).  Serving appetizers, salads, or entrees on a board or platter makes a grand statement. And even the most mundane dish can be elevated when served with style. This roundup features creative party recipes and platters to celebrate Summer's end.

The Ultimate Crostini Station
One of my favorite things to make, but mine haven't been quite this elaborate. This really is the perfect party platter for a pre-dinner snack or for a wine and cheese event. Vibrant fruit and veggies, and lots of heavenly herbs, add the color. Etsy has plenty of wood boards.
Here's a gorgeous one
that is also very large.

Sicily Platters
Sicilian stoneware exclusive to WS recreates tradition in a fabulous festive way.

Shaved Zucchini Summer Fruit Salad
Think outside of the Salad Bowl for a minute. This salad with it's attractive whole pieces of fruit and veggies is much more conducive to a platter than a bowl. Snap peas and cherries? Who would have thought?

Veggie Hummus Trio
This is what Sandra Lee calls "almost homemade." You don't actually make the hummus, but you do create three different kinds by mixing avocado, red pepper, and beets into the plain store bought variety.
Isn't that genius?

Panzanella Style Caprese Asparagus Salad
I just want to dive into this platter. The colors, that buratta, and the grilled asparagus! There is not one thing "not" to like in this recipe.

 Melon, Blue Cheese, Prosciutto,
and Basil Canapés
This is not your same ol' melon skewer. It is bolder with the bite of blue cheese. Most of all, isn't it a gorgeous platter? A must make for me.

Rectangular Slate Platters
These are sophisticated and modern. Best of all they come in two sizes and are on sale!

How to Create the Ultimate Italian Salad Platter
Say goodbye to the cheese plate and say hello to the salad platter! Your guests will love the chance to create their
own salad.

Serving Platter By Elise Flashman
This tableware is as tough as is it is fun.  Treat yourself and click through to see the collection. One pattern is better than the next. They are made from a revolutionary new food contact-grade thermoset plastic called "ThermoSāf that is multi-oven capable (microwave, conventional and convection), FDA, NSF and EU approved for food contact." I might add affordable, too!

The Lighter Cheese Board
Isn't this a beauty? The cheeses used for this display are what the author considers the "healthier cheese," like marinated goat cheese and feta. What really attracts me to this board, though, is the gorgeous fruit and those whole grain crackers! Your guests will be impressed.

Marble Copper Serving Board
A really pretty piece that is perfect for many of these recipes. It's now on sale with
free shipping!

Grilled Shrimp With Cilantro Pesto
Don't stop preparing this dish after Summer is over. It cooks up easily in your indoor grill pan, which is a daily staple in my home. That grilled bread will make every bite
of the shrimp even better.

The Ultimate Vegan Appetizer Platter
Nowadays, if you are serving a crowd, it is a smart move to offer both gluten free and vegan options.  And who doesn't love a great hummus and a few veggies? This platter features three different types of homemade hummus, hot marinated olives (yum) Soft Almond Ricotta, Basil Pesto, Olive Tapenade, and a rainbow of veggies.  Pretty perfect, right?

Mini Cheese Balls
My Mother made these back in the day. They are just so simple, and make a beautiful single serving bite. CB2 has the perfect serving platter for these. Find it here, and the recipe  at

Majorca Serving Boards
"One-of-a-kind slabs of white onyx marble are marked with splashes of cream and grey veining for the ultimate backdrop to grand presentations." How divine!

Steak Kabobs With Chimichurri
Kabobs demand a platter for the perfect presentation. This recipe is easy and just looks so delicious. I had to include it.
