Positive Thoughts For A New Year

giggle

I love New Years Eve! Having seen the stroke of midnight every year since I can remember, I look forward to ushering in another year.  For me, it is a chance for a new beginning, new hope, new memories, and another chance to get life right! Though this year wasn't exactly my favorite, I'd like to end it on a positive note.  Have fun and think happy thoughts!

Here:  Positive Thoughts
For a Bright New Year

“Because if you’re lucky enough to have people in your life that make you happy, that inspire you, that move you, you need to devour each moment you have together because you never know how many of those moments you have left. These people are sacred.”
– Katie Kacvinsky, First Comes Love (via xokrista)

Make it a good one, my friends, and please stay positive! I'll see you in the
New Year!

Foodie Friday: Holiday Hangover Helpers

(Via blog.vastudc)

Try as we might not to, the Holidays seem to find us over indulging one way or another. I simply can't wait to get  back to my normal high protein, low carb regime. With New Years Eve around the corner, some of us may not be feeling our best as we start the New Year. Be prepared with these yummy for your tummy (and aching head) recipes.

According to The Food Network, If you can handle food, your best bet is something like eggs, which are high in cysteine, which helps your body process the toxins in alcohol.

Tomatoes are filled with vitamins, minerals and enzymes that booze robs your body of, and contains fructose with aids in metabolizing alcohol
 in your system.

Eggs Baked in Roasted Tomato Sauce
This yummy dish is packed with the cure for what ails you.  The presentation is so attractive that it instantly is pleasing to the eye and the stomach.
Food and Wine

Chilaquiles
Pronounced, Chee-lah-KEE-less, this is real Mexican comfort food.  If you like Enchiladas, this recipe is very similar but without the rolling.  Leafy greens, vitamin A rich avocados, a little fat from cheese and the carbs of the tortillas will all help that headache and
queasy stomach.
Simply Recipes

Peanut Butter Banana Pancakes
Now this is a cure I'd eat every day of the week!
The bananas replace the much needed potassium that the alcohol depleted from your body. The protein in the peanut butter will give you strength to face the day and the New Year!
Food Republic

Spicy Potato, Bok Choy, and Shallot Hash
All of this spice will have you sweating out the toxins in no time! Sounds fabulous!
Serious Eats

Hangover Pizza
A glorified Egg and Cheese Sandwich, this is
an alternative version of the hangover pizza served at Donatella Arpaia's pizzeria, Donatella. How could this
not cure what ails you?

Strawberry Banana Breakfast Smoothie
This calcium and potassium rich drink will help the liver process the alcohol. It tastes and looks great so it will be easy on the queasy stomach.  Add a little ginger to get further benefits.
Martha Stewart

Apple and Cheddar Frittata
Dr. Oz says that apples are great for an hangover.
They put back into your system natural sugar.  The cysteine in the eggs we already know process the toxins of alcohol. This dish can be made ahead, so that makes it very handy to have the "morning after."
Delish

Cheese Biscuits
Your body needs carbs to metabolize the alcohol.
The fat in the cheese helps alot, as well. Stuff them with eggs for even more nutrients.

Heirloom Tomato Bloody Mary
The experts say that the hair of the dog is not the
best cure for a hangover. Leave out the vodka and drink this beautiful beverage for all of the flavors
and nutritional benefits.
Honestly Yum

Hot Brown
Created at the Brown Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky, by chef Fred K. Schmidt, this is the perfect midnight snack  after a night of revelry and over indulgence.
