The Timeless Trench

Tim Gunn, Educator, Author, Fashion
Therapist, and Mentor says:

"This is the one item of outerwear that looks as appropriate at the grocery store as it does at the opera. Furthermore, it's crying out to be personalized. Yes, the khaki belted trench is, indeed, a classic. But if it suits you, then why not try a shrunken version in red patent?"

Burberry's short cotton trench is sporty chic!

The Editors of Who What Wear have put
together an inspirational video on how to
wear the Trench this Spring.

And here are my edits for the best in
Spring Trenches for 2013

It's all about the details in this Burberry
Contrast Trench.

Loving Rag and Bone's Auckland Trench.
Men inspired ticking stripes are accented
with shutter pleats. Very hip.

LAHSSAN X FAÇONNABLE Striped Trench is fabulous! Talk about adding sunshine to a rainy day.  It's exclusive to

If you really want to go off the fashion grid, try a Trench Cape. Dawn Levy's Kate Double Breasted Trench is a pretty pick.

 C Wonder's preppy Printed Trench
is cropped to a chic but casual length.

Wednesday's Inspiration: Color at Home

Your Colorful Home

Today's inspiration comes from the fabulous
blog, So Haute Style. The photo above is the living room on interior designer, Jamie Drake's NYC condo.  His neighbors are Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, Kelsey Grammar and Dolce and Gabbana’s Domenico Dolce.  If you don't live in such a fancy hood...here are some easy fixes to create your own colorful home.

Global View Pillows from Zinc Door
(save 20% with Code: SITEWIDE thru 4/10)

A good throw pillow is a simple solution
for adding a pop of color.  In a neutral setting
choose your fave color.  Or pick a hue from
a work of art on your wall.

Throws are one of my "go to" accessories
for adding soft color to a room.  Love the
selection at

Chevron is always chic.  Frame your
photos in hot hues that pop or accent
a bit of color into your space.

A good tray is a great layering piece for
the table, bar, countertop or ottoman.
These Pandan trays are less than $20.

Start from the ground up when choosing color.  A good rug makes a stylish statement.  Layla Grayce has your floor covered with a large variety of rugs.

Jonathan Adler's Wallpops really add a
modern pop to any room.  If used tastefully
these peel and stick wall stickers can be quite
effective.  Find a selection at

Trend Tuesday: Warm Weather Leather

Image via Style.com

Warm weather leather...my favorite trend for Spring.  It may not be the easiest to wear for
those living in the South.  But what a terrific way to transition to Spring!  How will you take
on the Spring Leather trend?
Get inspired here!

Black and white is red hot right now.
Add Jason Wu's Peplum Leather Skirt
and now you have three trends going.
Love this look? Find it at

Take a walk on the wild side and go bold
with Alice + Olivia's bright moto.
Love the idea of pairing a
fitted jacket with wide leg pants.

Dress it up with Alice + Olivia's Leather

Bodice Dress. This number also incorporates
the "sheer" trend.  I love it for wearing to
a wedding...be the guest with an edge.

In the year of the Snake, Proenza Schouler's
Leather Circle Snake Patch Jacket, is spot on
trend. Pair it with neutrals and black.

Now this is hot! Milly's metallic leather
trim Dress is party perfect!

Brighten your belt this Spring with a
fun and affordable selection at C Wonder

Leather for less.  As you can see wearing
the warm weather trend can be expensive.
If shopping on a budget, this fab jacket
in navy with glam gold hardware is a
                    good pick at Boston Proper
