Thanksgiving Starts Here: Seventeen Stylish Side Dishes

{ Via: Williams Sonoma }

Here we are with the second post in the Thanksgiving countdown series. Today it's all about everyone's favorite part of the meal - the sides.  I hope that these recipes inspire you to change things up a bit this year. Give your guests a new favorite dish to savor.  Think about mashing the sweet potatoes, add bourbon to the cranberry sauce, or offer a pumpkin sage risotto as a gluten free option. No matter what recipe you use, don't forget to add a
pinch of love.

Bourbon Sweet Potato Casserole with
Sweet ‘n’ Savory Bacon Pecans
This recipe had me at the word bourbon!  And of course we all know that bacon makes everything better.  Sounds delightful!
Half Baked Harvest

Garlic and Sage Infused Mashed Potatoes
This recipe features Yukon Gold potatoes, which is the only way to go in my recipe book. Sage and garlic are two must haves in my potatoes, as well. This dish looks so very dreamy and creamy.
Woman's Day

A Really Good Thanksgiving Salad
Greens, Parmesan cheese, and harvest produce is simply tossed with maple vinaigrette, which sounds divine.
Foxes Love Lemons

Best Ever Pumpkin Buttermilk Biscuits
Aren't these the cutest? The author promises that they are the flakiest, fluffiest, and buttery biscuits you have
have eaten.
Aberdeen Kitchen

Bourbon Vanilla Cranberry Sauce
You might be thinking by now that I have a thing for bourbon. Well, I do like it, and I especially love what does to food. This recipe sounds crazy good.
How Sweet Eats

Thomas Keller's Ciabatta and Sausage Stuffing
From his Bouchon Bistro in Nappa, Saveur shares this rustic but delicious recipe. In my opinion, the type of fresh bread one uses is key to the texture and taste of a good dressing. I use three kinds, but now I will add Ciabatta into the mix. Yum!
Saveur

Cauliflower Cheese Gratin With Leeks
Creamy and delicious. Who could pass this dish without taking a deep dive? The leeks add texture and an unique flavor element.
Delicious Magazine

Pumpkin Walnut Sage Risotto
{ Gluten Free }
A super creative and easy addition to your Thanksgiving feast. Your veggie loving friends and GF watchers, will love you for this. It just screams Autumn.
Heather Christo

Cranberry Sauce With Dried Apricots
Remember when a special dinner always had at least one jello mold? I haven't made one in maybe 25 years. But why not this Thanksgiving?  This has a sophisticated look and taste with fresh ginger, red wine vinegar and more.

Roasted Brussel Sprouts With Balsamic Dried Cranberries
This is the only green dish my family absolutely needs on Thanksgiving. I highly recommend this combination of flavors. And aren't they the prettiest brussel sprouts you ever saw?
Mrs. Happy Homemaker

Rosemary Pecan Mashed Sweet Potatoes
The one way that I have not prepared sweet potatoes is mashing them. But it sounds great, and oh what an appealing color! This recipe features, grated parm, pure maple syrup, cayenne pepper, and of course, rosemary. I think it is a winner.

5 Ingredient Pomegranate Glazed Carrots With Whipped Goat Cheese
This healthy dish will brighten up any dinner spread. In Chicago you can get the rainbow carrots at Eatily.
Dishing Out Health

Sausage Cranberry Brioche Stuffing
Add pears and you have a symphony of flavors! And the buttery brioche puts this recipe at the top of the class.
Suburban Soapbox

Garlic Parmesan Duchess Potatoes
Feeling fancy? This style of potato always feels elevated. You get the unique design with the help of a pastry bag. I have not made these before, but I now want to.
Cooking Classy

Brown Sugar & Pineapple Roasted Acorn Squash
What a show stopping  recipe! The pomegranate adds tartness  to the dish, and the brown sugar and pineapple add the sweet. Something different, right?
Half Baked Harvest

Cranberry Orange Loaf With Sage and Candied Orange Peel
I am not opposed to featuring a little sweet and savory on the Thanksgiving table, especially when it is this pretty. The sage and cranberries are oh so seasonal, too.
The Lemon Apron

Sweet Potato Phyllo Casserole
Here's your bread course and veggie all in one dish. "Sweet, but not dessert like sweet. Buttery and cinnamony, with hints of bourbon, crunchy sage pecans, and extra flaky phyllo. " Perfect!
