Unexpected Thanksgiving Desserts:

Thanksgiving is less than a week away. Do you have it all together yet? This post will help. It is the last of a 3 post series of Thanksgiving recipes. Sorry, you won't find any pumpkin pie. These eight recipes are a bit more unexpected, like Sweet Potato Souffle Cupcakes. Scroll down and surprise your guests.

Goat Cheese Cheesecake With Honey-Cinnamon Apples
I can just imagine how rich this cheesecake is! This is a dessert that promises to impress!

Pumpkin Spice Magic Cake
An impressive Bundt cake that is made with a thick Mexican Caramel sauce called Cajeta. That's all I need to know.

Cinnamon Roll Apple Cobbler
Ooey, gooey, and chock full of apples! A delicious dessert or surprise breakfast.

Maple Bourbon Tiramisu Parfaits
The recipe author says it best. "Each parfait has 4 ladyfingers, two on the bottom and two in the middle. The lady fingers are cut to fit and dipped in a mixture of strong espresso, bourbon and maple syrup. The lady fingers are layered with a maple mascarpone mousse that you can enjoy with a spoon!"
Beyond Frosting

Creme Brulee Cheesecake
This is for Mollie. How yummy does it look? Cheesecake is always a favorite, but this recipe is very elevated.

No Churn Cinnamon Maple Swirl Ice Cream
I made something like this last week. And I will repeat it for Thanksgiving. It is exactly what your apple, pumpkin, and pecan pies need. No ice cream machine needed. It is honestly delicious. To make it even better, add bourbon.
The Wooden Spoon

Sweet Potato Souffle Cupcakes
Talk about unexpected! If you are asked to bring a dessert, these are it! Big and little kids alike will love them.

Pumpkin Chocolate Bread Pudding
This is a fabulous recipe for Thanksgiving dessert, breakfast, or snack. It's a good and easy recipe that begins with store bought brioche!

Seasonal Sides For Thanksgiving and Beyond

I can't believe that we are talking Thanksgiving already. But here we are. You can keep the turkey and pumpkin pie. Just give me all of the sides. Hopefully this post of non traditional recipes, inspires you to try something different this year. Next week we talk turkey!

Vegan Mushroom Wellington
I begin with my favorite recipe of the roundup. It's made with puff pastry. Inside you will find rosemary, pecans, and a woodsy misture of mushrooms. Yum!

Potato Mushroom Pie
This is a clever recipe that can replace your mashed potatoes. Best yet, it can be made ahead of time. Love that! It's made with my favorite Yukon Gold potatoes, wild mushrooms, and Gruyere and Parmesan cheeses. I am contemplating this recipe.

Tuscan Bread Stuffing with Goat Cheese, Dried Cherries and Prosciutto
Not the prettiest of pictures, but the title makes my mouth water. How unique, right? The authors tip is to buy the best bread you can find. I totally agree. Your stuffing is only as good as the bread.

Roasted Balsamic Parmesan Brussels Sprouts
These are just about how we make ours, but we add maple syrup. The balsamic dressing is olive oil, Balsamic vinegar, and fig preserves mixed with fresh garlic, thyme, and chili flakes. It's all about the tangy, nutty, cheesy, sweet, and spicy flavors here!

Herb-Scented Mashed Potatoes
I really love mashing potatoes! I urge you to get creative when cooking them. Plain potatoes are just sad to me. In this case, besides the fresh rosemary and sage, more butter has been brushed on top the potatoes, and then broiled. Aren't these atractive?

Herby Mushroom Croissant Stuffing
Not sure how I feel about this recipe, but it sure is unique. It takes the classic ho hum stuffing from bland and boring to flavorful and completely fab!
Half Baked Harvest

Vanilla Bourbon Cider Cranberry Sauce
Please don't use the canned jelly roll kind when this sauce is so easy to make. I have put liquor in mine before but never vanilla. Sounds interesting.

Fall Kale Salad
How can a salad with apples, figs, toasted pecans, pancetta, and goat cheese not be delicious?
How Sweet Eats

Corn Casserole
There's a new side dish in town, and it's not messing around! The recipe author's description says it best. "It is deliciously savory, unstoppably scoopable, offers a hint of sweet, a confetti of bacon, and pulls of sharp cheddar cheese. Yum!

Honey Glazed Roasted Rainbow Carrots
Add a little color to your Thanksgiving table. This recipe has it all, with the gremolata topping. It's crunchy, colorful, sweet, and savory. Not to mention it's one beautiful dish!

Ina Garten’s Baked Spinach and Zucchini
The next best thing to bringing Ina to your Thanksgiving table. It's quite elegant. Loving the individual servers, but the recipe can be made in one dish, also. Amazon has a good selection of the mini pans. Get the recipe at ....
Rosemary Garlic Buns with Sea Salt
The author states that the most complex part of this recipe, is getting the twist of the dough down. They sure are pretty, aren't they?

Loaded Sweet Potato Casserole
Here at Shop This, we are just big kids at heart. We love old fashioned sweet potatoes like my mom made. But these have a twist. Under that ooey gooey marshmallows is a buttery pecan crumble. Yum!

This year, I'll be topping my casserole with Wondermade's Bourbon Marshmallows

Sage Biscuits
Can you have too much sage at Thanksgiving? I think not. In this case the sage has been fried. Can you just imagine the aroma?

With Thanksgiving In Mind

{ Via Vogue }

Now that Halloween is over, and the frost is on the pumpkin (in some places), it's time to get on to the next holiday ~ Thanksgiving. If you are hosting, like I am, it's not too early to prep. This post features hosting helpers and inspiration, including a little black apron, chic dripless candles, the best gravy base and more!

Thankful Place Card
Adding some type of decor at each place setting makes your guests feel special. In this case, they will know that you are "thankful" for them. This shop also offers the words "blessed" and "gather." And the words come in gold, too. It's a small detail that goes a long way for under $4.00

Cynthia Rowley Ruffle Apron
Any creative cook is most likely a bit messy in the Thanksgiving kitchen. I mean there is all of that taste testing, whipping, and stirring. This designer apron will protect your outfit and keep you looking cute until dinner!

The Laundress Stain Solution & Brush
It happens at every dinner party. Someone knocks over their red wine glass on the white table cloth. Then there is the gravy dripping as it is passed. Anything can happen, but no need to panic. The Laundress has the right solution for your stain. I swear by it. Be prepared!

Elegant Disposables
Having a crowd? Or maybe you just dislike the clean up. With disposable dishes as elegant as these, no china is needed. These and more pretty plates are offered at this fab Etsy shop!

GreenPan Sale
So how is your roaster from last year? Making mashed potatoes in a slow cooker? Now is the time to replace the old with something new and non-toxic Everything is 40% off!

Dripless Ombre Candles
If you are setting a table, candlelight is really a must in my mind. These dripless ombre candle are handmade from natural bees and soy wax.
 So lovely.

Williams Sonoma Gravy Base
I like to cook healthy and make everything from scratch, and I mean everything - except for Thanksgiving gravy. My friend, Mollie, turned me on to this product, and it never disappoints. Cooking gravy at the last second on this special day is nerve racking. This base makes it ever so much easier. Just add your favorite stock, the turkey drippings, and wine! Get it now, as they sell out closer to turkey day.
Williams Sonoma

Thankful Holiday Doormat
Who knows what the weather will be on Thanksgiving? If it's snowy or rainy, you will want all shoes off. This mat will help, and offer a warm welcome to your guests.

The Original PieCaken
If you don't bake, consider this cake. The sweet version of the Turducken. it serves 10-12 people and features pecan pie on the bottom, pumpkin pie in the middle, and spice cake on top, all layered together with cinnamon buttercream and topped with apple pie filling!  It's a real showstopper. I have always had good luck with my Goldbelly orders.         GoldBelly

Potato Ricer
My mashed potatoes are hard to beat flavor-wise.  I mean, fresh garlic, cream cheese, butter, heavy cream and plenty of Himalayan Sea Salt, all add up to a taste made in heaven. But I often am not happy with the texture. Everyone says that this ricer will give you "light as air" mashed.

Flower Tea Light Candles
I go through a lot of tea lights or votive candles every year. I stock them. Most are not as lovely as these. Handmade by the same Etsy seller that created the taper candles above. Beautiful even unlit, and can be ordered scented or unscented. I have purchased the Moroccan Cashmere scent multiple times. They are packaged nicely so you could gift them for less than $10.
Little Black Apron
If the designer apron I showed earlier, was too pricey, this is not at under $30. And isn't it adorable? It will elevate your look in the kitchen, and bring smiles to the table.
