Countdown To Thanksgiving: 21 Sips, Soups & Sides

The big day, and everyone's favorite meal, sure is coming up quickly. I am thankful to be sharing it with "Ms. Shop This" and her guy, Steve.  We will be cooking together, so these recipes are inspiration for all of us. You'll find not so classics with a twist like Buttermilk Boursin Mashed Potatoes, Cranberry Sauce with Red Wine and more.
  Enjoy it all.

 Pumpkin Spice White Russian
A fun twist on a classic cocktail. Looks good enough to be dessert.

Roasted Butternut Squash Soup With Creme Fraiche
My kind of serving style. Consider casually serving this "shooter" style soup before sitting at the table. It is a fun surprise for your guests, even if it is just family. The simple sprigs of thyme are the perfect touch!

Savory Bread Pudding With Wild Mushrooms & Bacon
This recipe would be all I need on Thanksgiving. It is said to have a Quiche Lorraine type flavor. And isn't everything better with bacon? Williams Sonoma

Cheesy Root Vegetable Gratin
It's lots of peeling, but this gorgeous dish looks like it is worth it. So unique!
Spoon Fork Bacon

Buttermilk-Boursin Mashed Potatoes
Let me tell you, Boursin Cheese in mashed potatoes is absolutely delicious. I have done it when I forgot to buy cream cheese. If you want to change things up this year. Try this recipe.
Country Living

Sweet Potato & Roasted Apple Soup
Filled with flavor and nutritional fiber, this soup has all of the fall feels.
Smells Like Home

Crispy Parmesan Thyme Sweet Potato Stacks
I'll start by saying that one really needs a mandoline for this recipe, unless you are a whiz with a knife. Then you stack up the potatoes and the other ingredients, in cupcake tins. How clever!!

Roasted Brussel Sprouts With Balsamic & Dried Cranberries
This recipe had me at the balsamic glaze. Because this is what I do, and it is delicious. And the color of the cranberries and glaze make for one pretty dish.

Pumpkin Saffron Chantrelle Risotto
Now this is a creative and impressive dish. I would give up almost any traditional side for a little pumpkin of gold!

Sage Biscuits
Soft, savory, and buttery. This is a beautiful bread to serve on Thanksgiving. They will compliment all of the other fall flavors.

Vegan Cornbread Stuffing
The base is a double batch of  Perfect Vegan Cornbread or a Gluten Free Cornbread. A good idea when serving a crowd. Someone is bound to be gluten intolerant.

Green Beans With Apples & Sage Butter
We can't have green beans on Thanksgiving because a certain "Mr. Shop This" doesn't like them. But if there ever was a recipe that he would like, it would be this one.

Creamy Pumpkin Soup Shooters
The perfect beginning for a Thanksgiving meal. And this soup is not difficult to make.

Stuffed Mushrooms
My Mother's were the best, and now "Ms. Shop This" has taken over that tradition, and hers are even better. Honestly, I could make a meal out of these cheesy treats. Perfect as an appetizer or a side dish.

Loaded Sweet Potato Casserole
I thought that this looked like mine, until I read the instructions. There is a brown sugar pecan crumble under the marshmallows. Now that is elevated! I will be doing just that, this year. YUM.

Sour Cream & Onion Potato Bake
Now this is what I call elevated in the tastiest way. The best part of the recipe is that you can make it ahead. We need more recipes like this for Thanksgiving.

Skillet Cornbread With Honey Butter
If you are from the South, no Thanksgiving dinner is complete without cornbread. I think us Northerners would love this easy recipe, as well.

Spiced Maple Bourbon Fizz
What a cozy cocktail! It's easy to create and just perfect for Thanksgiving. This year make this your signature house drink.

Twice Baked Sweet Potatoes
Oh no! These look so good that I may want to go off tradition. "These twice-baked sweet potatoes are an all-in-one creamy side dish served in their own jacked made sweet with maple syrup and savory with white cheddar and brown sugar bacon."

Red Wine Cranberry Sauce
My favorite part of a Thanksgiving meal. I could not eat turkey without cranberry sauce. This recipe is super unique and sounds fab!

Pecan Pie Martini
Because drinking your dessert is always a good idea! I hear thay even though this delicious drink looks innocent, it is actually quite strong.
Yes, Please!
