Saturdays At Shop This: Remembering Queen Elizabeth

What a sad week this turned out to be. I just started watching The Crown last month, and to say that I am enjoying it, would be an understatement. But now, I know the ending, and I don't like it one bit.  So for this Saturday, I am forgoing the normal weekly wrap up of quick links. Instead here's some fun and fashionable facts about Queen Elizabeth. It was good therapy for me. I hope that you enjoy it, as well.

June 2022
Lucky Paddington Bear. He had tea with the Queen last June. It was the most adorable promotion ever! The little bear would make a wonderful new baby gift, or a present for any child. Harrods has one made exclusively for them. It's an instant keepsake, and you can order it HERE

Marmalade French Toast Sandwiches
The Queen shared a marmalade sandwich with Paddington Bear. This recipe looks even better than the one that The Queen whipped up. (wink, wink )

Tea With The Queen
The Queen, my friend, Mollie, and myself have something in common besides our penchant for cocktails. We all consider Earl Grey our choice in tea. Her Majesty's brand was Twinings. It's quite affordable at Amazon

Scents of a Queen
One of the characteristics I loved about the Queen was her femininity. In "The Crown," you see her having her makeup done, and watch her nightly skincare ritual, that she did herself. Floris London created a very special fragrance for the Queen's Jubilee in June. It's called Platinum 22The fragrance takes its' inspiration from the flora of Her Majesty’s beautiful gardens which surround Her UK residences. We can experience the fragrance, too.  Find it at Bergdorf Goodman.

Guerlain L'Heure Bleue'
According to Vogue, the Queen's personal favorite fragrance was from the House of Guerlain. Though I have not had the pleasure to try this scent, I do know the House of Guerlain. Fun fact, during a  stay in Paris in a special suite at The Ritz, the bathroom came equipped with a full size bottle of Guerlain for me. I loved it!!! You can find this fragrance on line at Harrods

Headscarves At Balmoral
Known for her colorful matching hats, even off duty, she covered her head often. Her signature printed scarves were sourced from the likes of Hermes and Burberry. Be sure to check out Vestiaire Collective for some vintage finds at great prices.

The Queen's People
Royal lovers will enjoy this most beautiful book I have ever seen. It's
a"magnificent collection of photography that brings Queen Elizabeth II and important members of Her Majesty’s court to life as rarely seen before. " Find it for a King's ransom at

Launer Handbags
The Queen's signature handbags were custom made by Launer London. I wonder how many she actually had. At the price of these chic and proper purses, much of England's debt could be wiped out with the sale of them. Of course, the bags are made in England with unmatched craftsmanship. You and I can have our own and order from

The Queen's Cocktail
It's no secret that her Majesty enjoyed a tipple or three every day. Her drink of choice was a Gin and Dubonnet. Find the recipe at Food and Wine, and toast the Queen this weekend. Cheers!

Farewell, Queen Elizabeth. You did good. I respected you.  Live your best life everyone. Tomorrow is not promised.
