Foodie Friday: Going For The Green - Salad

Every once in a while I ask "Mr. Shop This" for ideas on blog topics. When I asked him about a theme for today's post, his first thought was The Masters golf tournament. I don't know what golf food is, but they are all going for the coveted green jacket this weekend. And that is how we came to salads today. Even the non veggie eater in your life will have to admit, this recipe roundup looks delish!

Spring Cobb Salad
This salad gets five forks for presentation and prettiness alone! The fresh herb dressing with Dijon, honey, basil and balsamic sounds fab!

Ensalada Mixta
Packed with a punch of Spanish flavors, this is one hearty salad.  You will think you are in Barcelona while eating it.

Honey Mustard Pretzel Chicken Salad With Avocado & Bacon
Let's start with the fact that these chicken fingers have been coated with pretzel crumbs. Then everything is topped off with a creamy honey mustard dressing. What a flavor combo!

Roasted Radicchio Wedge Salad
Here's a new take on a classic, but sounds even better! It's topped with a balsamic vinegar reduction, walnuts, blue cheese, and parsley.

Kosterina Olive Oil and Flavored Balsamic Vinegar Set
Crafted in small batches. The olive oil is said to be buttery with a slight peppery finish. Then you select either a Fig or Chocolate Balsamic to pair with it. It's a beautiful set, and a great gift for the foodie. Ships for free from...

Spring Nicoise Salad
This stylish salad features all the colors of Spring. The photo doesn't show seafood, but of course, you can add tuna, salmon, or even chicken
How Sweet Eats

Christo House Salad
At a restaurant, I always pass on the "house salad." A bowl of lettuce with a plain vinaigrette is just too boring for me. It doesn't take much to make a creative salad. Heather proves it with this delicious looking recipe.

Reactive Glaze Salad Bowl
The Dusty mint color is so very pretty. Dare to be different, and think outside the wooden bowl.

Blueberry Almond and Goat Cheese Salad
If that title sounds delicious to you, how about adding a blueberry balsamic vinaigrette? This salad is meant for sharing! YUM.

Strawberry Spinach Salad
A stunning and healthy salad that is really easy to put together. That soft goat cheese seals the deal.

OXO Steel Salad Spinner
I have always wanted one. It's about time that I do something about it. This model gets rave reviews.

Spring Roll Salad
With Spicy Peanut Dressing
One could call this the lazy spring roll recipe. Those rolls take quite a bit of time to create, but this salad comes together in 15 minutes. Unique and sounds amazing!

Shrimp Caesar Salad Stuffed Sweet Potatoes
The most appealing recipe of the mix in my humble opinion. It's a healthy complete meal recipe.

Spicy Southwestern Salad With Avocado Dressing
This recipe featuring roasted sweet potatoes, black beans, corn, lettuce, and creamy avocado dressing, has my name written all over it. A must make!

Balsamic Drizzles
The perfect addition to salads, cheese, meats, and veggies. These delicious condiments have been cast aged and made on the farm. Pick your flavor ~ Roasted Garlic, Whyte Balsamic, or Fig
 and Elderberry.

Hawaiian Tequila Chicken Salad With Pineapple Vinaigrette
This recipe had me at "tequila" which you will find in the marinade. If you can't get away for Spring Break, this salad has all of the tropical feels.

Show Stopping Sides For Thanksgiving

The "Shop This" household could easily skip the turkey and feast on starters, sides, and desserts. This year, since it is just the two of us, we may do that. This roundup features classic dishes with a twist.  I personally think that life is too short to prepare boring food. So get ready to mull your wine, candy some bacon, and mash the squash.
Get inspired!

Mulled Wine Cranberry Sauce
I begin with my favorite dish on the Thanksgiving table. Some kind of liquor is always present in mine, but I have not tried wine. It does sound like a match made in heaven, though. It's said to be both sweet and tart. Yum!

Maple Roasted Rainbow Carrots With Walnuts and Feta
I am always fascinated by these colorful carrots. They are almost too pretty to cook. Did you know that each color of rainbow carrot provides a different nutrient for your body?  Click the link to read more. But safe to say that this might be the healthiest dish on the table.

Pumpkin and Potato Gratins With Gruyere and Sage
Sage is my favorite word and ingredient for Fall and Thanksgiving. I go through quite a bit of the fresh herb each Thanksgiving. The cheese is nutty and strong, but not overpowering at all.
Something different!

Pumpkin Bread Stuffing With Candied Bacon & Pecans
A bit untraditional because of the sweet aspect of this dressing. Why not try something new? Here's a reason to delve deeper,  there is rum involved!

Blue Cheese Mashed Potatoes
Here's a tangy twist on the classic mashed. These would be a hit here!

Baguette, Smoked Oyster, and Pancetta Stuffing
I would love to make this dish, but Mr. Shop This does not do oysters.  (Imagine that?) Anyway, this stuffing gets a dash or two of Cognac before baking.
Yes Please!

Chipotle Cranberry Chutney
This cranberry chutney features a little kick and a touch of heat that works so well with the sweet. P.S. the darling ruffled MacKenzie Childs dish can be found HERE

Mashed Butternut Squash With Goat Cheese & Rosemary
What a festive and colorful alternative to mashed potatoes! Or serve both.

Brussels Sprouts With Glazed Pancetta and Pecan
What a tasty trio of ingredients! When I really want to create a brussels sprout dish, this is how I do it. It's beyond delicious!

Slow Cooker Garlic Herb Mashed Potatoes
These look perfect, don't they? Fresh garlic always gives potatoes a depth of flavor. How nice not to have to deal with your potatoes at the last minute. The slow cooker makes so much sense!

Savory Roasted Sweet Potatoes with Parmesan, Garlic & Herbs
Perfect for those who prefer their sweet potatoes more savory than sweet.

Green Bean Bundles With Bacon & Brown Sugar
What about skipping the green bean casserole this year and trying these beautiful bundles? Truth be told, I have never made green bean casserole. But these I would think about serving!
Williams Sonoma

Sage, Buttermilk and Bacon Biscuits
Anything with sage has a place on my Thanksgiving table. What a winning combination of flavors!

Pumpkin Walnut Sage Risotto
{ Vegan }
Serve the unexpected, and switch out dressing or potatoes for this dish. Doesn't this look delish? And from start to finish it only takes 30 minutes.
Heather Christo

Crispy Roasted Potatoes with Thyme
Crispy, buttery, and aromatic. No wonder that this dish is one of Williams Sonoma's most popular recipes of all time!

Rosemary-Pecan Mashed Sweet Potatoes
The pecans for this creamy concoction have been spiced and roasted, giving these sweets a
crunchy twist.

Cheesy Sausage & Sage Stuffing
Melted gooey cheese in your stuffing? I never thought about it, but it looks fab. This dish falls between a strata, a gratin, and the traditional dressing. Maybe it will become a new  family favorite.

Pumpkin Bread Rolls
How cute are these? The kids will love them, and the adults will be impressed.

Foodie Friday: Soup's On!

The leaves are falling and so are the temps starting tomorrow in Chicago. There's no better comfort food for cooler days than a big bowl of warm soup. These 15 recipes including the chicken soup will be so good for your body and soul. Scroll down to get your soup on!

Creamy Broccoli and Butternut Squash Soup With Cheddar Brie Pastries
This recipe had me at those cheese stuffed pastries! Even if you don't care for broccoli, I think that you will love this soup.

Butternut Squash Soup With Crispy Prosciutto
This recipe features a yummy contrast in textures and flavors. Think sweet pears, creamy squash and crispy prosciutto. Sweet, salty and very velvety.

Black Bean Soup
One of my favorite soups. The best I have had is at Morton's Steak House. Haven't had it in years, but I would take it over a steak any day. And all of the extras that you see are like icing on a cake.

Tomato Chicken Vegetable Soup
This recipe is delicious, low carb, Paleo, and Whole30 friendly.
Heather Christo

Classic French Onion Soup
My absolute favorite soup! Early on in our marriage, I almost killed "Mr. Shop This" with my own homemade recipe. I was a little ( a lot) heavy with the butter. So from then on, we leave it to the professionals. And I want mine to look like this , always. It features both red wine and white wine. Wine not?
A Sassy Spoon

Creamy Wild Rice Chicken Soup
This recipe uses pantry staples, Autumn herbs and chicken breasts. It certainly is a meal in a bowl. Just add bread!

Creamy Buffalo Cauliflower Soup
We love cauliflower in my household. I roast it with grated parm and garlic at least once a week. So I know that this recipe would be a hit.
How Sweet Eats

Spanish Saffron Meatball Soup
The combination of orzo pasta and homemade meatballs makes this a filling and satisfying soup. The recipe calls for ground beef, but you certainly can use chicken or turkey.
The Seaside Baker

Spicy Pineapple and Shrimp Soup
Don't let the word "spicy" worry you. The spice comes from 1/2 teaspoon of Sriracha which is more smoky than spicy. But the flavors are balanced  with pineapple and honey. This looks fabulous!

Lime Crab Soup
"This easy soup recipe calls for limes, corn, chipotle chile, chicken broth, salt, crabmeat, avocado, cilantro, and cumin seeds. Serve with tortilla strips for a welcome crunch."Oh Yum!

Creamy Roasted Red Pepper Soup
Gluten Free and Vegan
Have 30 minutes? Then you can make this simple but nutrient rich soup. It would be wonderful with a side of grilled cheese for dipping.

Coconut Sweet Potato Lentil Soup With Rice
Oh what beautiful bowl! Tieghan states this soup is chock full of good for you ingredients, yet is also comforting and flavorful. I would agree.
Half Baked Harvest

30 Minute Asian Chicken Soup
This is just one big bowl of health. And it is true, chicken soup really is good for the soul.

Matzo Ball Soup
The secret ingredient to these Matzo Balls, which are slightly fluffy and perfectly firm is the chicken drippings added to the mix. Love this soup!

Smoked Bacon, Potato and Corn Chowder
Doesn't this just sound and look cozy? It is said the smokier the bacon the better.  A must make!

Phillips Soup Maker
Chunky or creamy, hot or cold, this awesome appliance will make any kind of soup for you. Read all about it at
