Saturdays At Shop This:

Apologies for the sporadic posts this week. A dear friend of mine lost her battle with cancer on Monday. It's been hard. I know that many of you feel a bit fragile yourselves from the sadness in the world, the missed and postponed celebrations, the anger and the fear.  For today, let's acknowledge our feelings, then concentrate on the positive. These links are filled with positivity, kindness, and hope.

The Art of Raising Kind Kids: I tried to major in this when I was a mom of a young child. If you do nothing else as a parent, make this a priority.

Grieving, Mourning, and Honoring Loved Ones in Social Isolation: Here are some positive ways to deal with loss.

Protect the kiddos while they play dress up!  Lovelane Designs makes it easy with these fun and eco-friendly child masksThe country is opening up like a butterfly this weekend. Let's think positive about the end result.

Vogue, Amazon, and the CFDA announced the new Common Threads store on Amazon this week. Up until now, I haven't talked fashion too much. I mean where can we wear it? But with the country opening up bit by bit, maybe it's time. This edit is  instant style gratification. With names like Edie Parker, Derek Lam, and the Brock Collection, it is worth a click!

Foodie Friday: Toss A Salad!

I love a good salad, don't you?  For me, the definition of a good salad does not include your basic lettuce and tomato mix. It has to be interesting. Life is just too short not to get creative with a salad. This recipe roundup is anything but boring. If your body is showing the results of quarantine eating, it's time to put down the sugar and starch, and mix up some veggies!

The Spring Cobb Salad
The prettiest salad ever! This recipe creates a protein packed main course. It features goat cheese, petite spring peas, pancetta, watermelon radishes and a herby vinagrette.
Modern Proper

Citrus Avocado Salad With Orange Tahini Vinaigrette
A salad recipe that that is filled with color and fresh flavors, is one that you can never get tired of. The vinaigrette is tangy, creamy, and sweet. What more can you want from a dressing?
Half Baked Harvest

Nambe Salad Servers
Modern and just perfect for indoor and outdoor entertaining,
Macy's

BLT Salmon Salad with Creamy Avocado Green Goddess Dressing
This recipe creates a salad that is light, healthy, and so very delicious. I became burnt out on salmon years ago, but this stunning salad, just might turn
 that around!
Heather Christo

Chimichurri Potato Salad
A potato salad that is actually healthy? This one skips the mayo. It's a colorful and hearty.
Well and Good

Il Borgo del Balsamico Balsamic Vinegar of Modena IGP
If you have not had a fine aged Balsamic Vinegar, you are really missing out. They call this product "black gold." And I agree, as I was gifted with a bottle a few years ago. It's fab!
Food52

Blackened Shrimp Kale Caesar Salad
It’s a salad you can actually prep entirely before if you’d like. And who wouldn't like this?  Just keep the shrimp separate and then mix everything at once right before eating.
How Sweet Eats

Charred Avocado Salad With Cilantro Mayo
Grilled avocados are just the best! They get slightly smoky and extra creamy. A perfect addition to anything you grill
for dinner.
Food and Wine

Joseph Joseph Large Silver Index Cutting Board Set
I love my set.  Neat and sleek, and always handy when you need them. Now 20% off.
Bloomingdales

Fiesta Lime Chicken Salad With
Chipotle Dressing
You will want to make this recipe on repeat all the way through Summer grilling. And the same seasonings that you use in the salad, you will be using in the dressing. Easy enough!
Creme De La Crumb

Thai Crunch Salad With Peanut Dressing
I was sold on this salad by the peanut butter in the dressing! It's inspired by a salad at The California Pizza kitchen, and is said to be highly addictive.
Once Upon A Chef

Fig Strawberry Goat Cheese Salad
I so love the tangy yet mild flavor that goat cheese adds to a salad.  All of this deliciousness is topped with a simple poppyseed dressing, which pairs so nicely with the fruit.
The Artful Appetite

Mango Wood Salad Servers & Bowl
Rustic but ever so stylish. These pieces in grey will work well indoors and out.
Sur La Table

Steak Salad with Red Rice, Yellow Tomatoes & Mango
Oh how I love a good steak salad. This recipe takes inspiration from a Thai beef salad.  Asian red rice makes it especially striking, but you can substitute white or brown rice
if you prefer.
Williams Sonoma

Blackberry Goat Cheese Salad
Doesn't this look divine? "Pistachios, chèvre and honey-mustard vinaigrette pair perfectly with peppery arugula and sweet vine-ripe fruit."
The Modern Proper

Fully Loaded Wedge Salad
Don't you love the presentation of this classic salad? It's perfect for casual company. You don't have to be extra neat with all of the toppings. The more they topple, the yummier it looks.
The View From Great Island

Four Homemade Salad Dressings
Raise your hand if you have bottled salad dressings in the fridge. Have you looked at the labels lately? They are expensive, full of artificial flavors and preservatives. It is so easy to make, and much better than bottled. Click this link and see for yourself.

Saturdays At Shop This: Motherhood

{ Via: ZsaZsa Bellagio }

Most Mothers aren't royal, and most children don't marry a prince, but motherhood is filled with moments like the above. My own daughter was hell on wheels at home, but I could have taken her for tea with the Queen, and she would have been the perfect child. Today's links feature a little something for every type of Mom.

Time-Saving Hacks from #Momlife.

Homemade Playdough Recipe For Mom's out of ideas on how to entertain the kids. I made it all of the time. Two thoughts I would add. 1) Don't use toxic and messy food coloring. Here's a recipe for Natural Food Coloring. 2) Add some vanilla or almond extract, to make it smell as enticing as the real thing.

Such sad news this week about Neiman Marcus. The Chicago store holds so many memories for "Miss Shop This" and I. I can't tell you how many of their famous Chocolate Chip Cookies we shared over her childhood years. Here's the secret recipe at Cooking Classy.
