Soup: A Hug In A Bowl ~ Recipes & More

{ Recipe Via Williams Sonoma }

Is there anything better on a cold winter's night than a hot bowl of soup, warm bread, and a bottle of wine? I think not. So to start off the weekend, this post features recipes, soup tools & warm hugs.

Chicken Taco Soup With Cheese Quesadillas Croutons
This certainly is a meal in a bowl. The base is shredded chicken with an assortment of beyond flavorful ingredients!

French Onion Soup
My favorite soup, and this recipe sounds fabulous!

Black Bean Soup
Another one of my favorites. It's easy to put together and super healthy!

Jennifer Fisher Black & White Soup Bowls
Pair these with the matching plates. Or they would look fab with plain black or white dishes.

Stracciatella (Italian egg-drop soup)
Simple ingredients create the best soup. I happen to put an egg or two in every chicken soup I create. It's good!
Gourmet Traveller

Philips 10-in-1 Soup and Smoothie Maker
In as quick as 18 minutes, you can have hot or cold soup on the table. This counter chic electric cooker can cook more than just soups. You will enjoy hot chocolate, frappes, baby food and more.

Baked Chipotle Cheddar Sweet Potato Chowder
This recipe had me at the word "chowder." You know it is going to be chunky and filling. The sweet and touch of heat in this soup sounds perfectly balanced.

Farmhouse Soup and Sandwich Set
It's a little bit on sale and a stylish way to have a meal.

Cioppino  ~ Fisherman's Stew
This dish is hard to resist for me, especially since it was made with homemade lobster broth. I do bet  chicken broth is delicious, too.

Soup Spoons
Aren't these attractive? I would like one of each style. For $8, you can have more than one.

Easy Spicy Broccoli Cheddar Potato Soup
This recipe has it all ~ potatoes, broccoli, salsa verde, cheese,  and soup. That just can't be bad. And by the way, the spice is said to be subtle.

Butternut Squash Soup With Crispy Prosciutto
Here's a sweet and salty recipe that is company worthy. Besides crispy prosciutto, there are caramelized pears. Just Yum!

Seafood Bisque
This recipe comes straight from Louisiana. It features just what a Cajun stew should have ~ crawfish, shrimp, crab, and old bay seasoning. What a treat for any seafood lover!

Split Pea Soup With Smoked Ham Hock
The recipe author strongly feels it is necessary to cook this soup with a smoked ham hock. Sounds delish, but I wouldn't know a ham hock if I saw one. Ask your butcher.

15 Warm & Cozy Winter Recipes

After the festivities of December, the month of January is a time to get cozy at home. Winter weather is so conducive to cuddling up and cooking. Cure your cravings with savory soups, hearty mains, cozy side dishes, and delicious desserts.

Crockpot French Onion Soup with Cheesy French Toast
This soup is my number one cozy recipe for Winter. I have not made it yet, but I plan on enjoying some with a glass of champagne this weekend.  What could be more perfect?

Ina Garten's Roast Chicken
For many, nothing is more comforting or cozy than a whole chicken in the oven. Not to me, but I do concede that the aroma is appealing. This recipe is simple and satisfying.

Smoked Cheddar, Honey Ham & Caramelized Onion Mac and Cheese
High on my list for cozy cuisine is Mac 'N Cheese. This one is different from the rest.  It calls for both smoked cheddar and smokey Gruyere! Don't you love the brown topping? It makes it look so appealing.

Pumpkin Bread Pudding With Whiskey Cream sauce
There's nothing better than a warm dessert on a cold winter's night. It's made with Cinnamon Raison Toast, which I haven't had in years. Sounds like a winner.

Italian Braised Short Ribs
This recipe rates #4 on the Williams Sonoma readers awards list for 2022. Just by looking at the image, I can see why. It is said to feature robust Italian flavors. Just yum!

Chicken and Stars Soup
For this flu and cold season (and do I dare mention Covid?) You need to keep this recipe handy, The lemon in it is so good for you. And you know what they say about chicken soup, it's good for the soul! If your market doesn't sell stars pasta. Amazon does. Just tap here

I tried to make one of these recently. It was a royal flop, but it wasn't this same recipe. This Dutch Baby is puffy, buttery, and gooey. I can't wait to try again.

French Beef Stew with Red Wine
Low and slow are the words that describe the cooking method for this delicious dish. Serve it with wide egg noodles, mashed potatoes or just warm crusty bread and a salad. It is said to have an intense flavor profile. I am sure the red wine helps with that.

Roasted Garlic and Prosciutto Cream Cheese Dip with Hot Honey
I wish that I had found this recipe last week when I entertained at cocktail hour. In my view, hot honey makes everything better. The perfect thing to serve when there's a hungry crowd.
Iowa Girl Eats

Warm Chocolate Fudge Cake
It's not often you get warm cake of any flavor. Make it warm, gooey and chocolate, and you are calling my name. Bourbon and vanilla are added to intensify the flavors. Oh boy!

Italian Meatballs
When in doubt, we do meatballs. This is an easy recipe they say can be made in 30 minutes.

Fish & Chips
Oh this recipe reminds me of the restaurant "Grill on The Alley," which was once a favorite in Chicago. They made a lot of great things, and this was one of them. Now I think I need to make this. Indulgent but once in a while.....

Truffle Mac & Cheese
Earthy, decadent, and a mushroom lovers (me) dream. They say, easy to make, too!

This amaretto coffee is "part drink, part winter dessert, and 100 percent irresistible." Just add booze!
