Saturdays At Shop This: World Mental Health Day

Today is World Mental Health Day. It raises awareness and mobilizes efforts to support mental health. The above photo could be, for some, what it feels like when one has mental health issues.  Perhaps it feels as if you are drowning, even with an umbrella. Wouldn't it be nice if we could look at the same photo, and think "I am not drowning. I have an umbrella."Spreading kindness and positivity is something we all can do for the mental health of others. Here's some feel good links and inspo to start your weekend.

Journaling Exercises for Everyday Anxieties. Meera Lee Patel is a self-taught artist and writer who found some solace from stress in drawing and journaling.  On a personal note, writing and creating this blog is a big stress reliever for me.

According to the Zodiac, this month is about Self Care. October looks to be one of the hardest months in what is obviously a very hard year.  Oh great! If you want to see how to handle this month, these horoscopes are amazingly detailed.

How To Be Yourself: Changing Advice From A Reckless Contrarian. A new book written by Simon Doonan. Radically honest and funny, consider this book to be a survival guide for the decade.  As Iris Apfel said… “the worst fashion faux pas is to look in the mirror and not see yourself."

The Social Dilemma’: Are Facebook and Instagram Really Affecting Our Mental Health? Personally the political posts on Facebook can raise my blood pressure. This is an interesting and in-depth article on Vogue.

Many people turn to chemical packed drugs when feeling depressed. I always turn to natural cures like Essential Oils, for any wellness issues. But Lavender Essential Oil is one of my faves.  It is known for its benefits, including supporting feelings of relaxation and calm. We use it every evening in the bath water. I purchase mine at Ancient Nutrition. It's important that the oil be organic.

"Out Out Damn Spot!" If you can believe it, cleaning makes me happy.  And when I can get a stain out of clothing, I am ecstatic.  I finally found the product that works. The Laundress Stain Solution. So far I removed lipstick from a face mask, and a 3 year old rust stain from a pair of white shorts of "Mr. Shop This." It's a good time to try it, because this weekend you get a free Full Size bottle with $60+ purchase. Everything is so lovely and it works!
