Foodie Friday: Back To Baking ~ Sweet & Savory Recipes & Cook's Tools

One of the positives about Summer coming to an end, is that we tend to head back to the kitchen. As our clothing transitions into Fall, so does our eating habits. Baking for yourself and for others is a form of mindfulness. It's also therapy for me. One can fix the worlds' problems when kneading, mixing, and licking the bowl!  So let's get back to baking with this roundup of terrific treats.

HERE: 23 Treats & Tools

Peanut Butter And Jelly Hand Pies
Peanut Butter and Jelly appeals to kids of all ages, especially this big kid! This recipe is a great addition to any lunch box, or after school snack menu.

Vegan Coconut Fudge Brownies
{Gluten Free}
How could something so decadent looking be free of all of the bad things for us? Every bite is loaded with rich chocolate and fragrant coconut. A must try.

Courtly Check Cake Carrier
I have gifted this couture cake cover and carrier before, and secretly wanted one for myself. That's the best gift, when you want it yourself, don't you think? Other pretty prints available at

Tomato Tart with Basil and Ricotta
Take advantage of tomato season before it is over. This tart is easy and a perfect pre-dinner bite and appetizer.

Apple Snickerdoodle Cupcakes
This recipe is Fall in a cupcake! They will bring back memories of the Snickerdoodle cookies that Mom use to bake.

Orange Buttermilk Chess Pie
Inspired by Denise Sa Ade's winning pie at the 2013 state fair of Texas. I think Chess Pie must be a Southern "thing." My Grandmother made a good one, but I don't believe she added the beautiful candied citrus. Pretty!

A Raspberry Liqueur-Spiked Dark Chocolate Tart
This recipe had me at the word 'spiked.' It only calls for 2 tablespoons of raspberry liquor, but don't be stingy. What would Julia Childs do?

Cheese and Pesto Whirls
These herby tear-and-share bread rolls have mozzarella and sun-dried tomatoes baked into them.

Kerber's Farm Apple Pie Kit
MacKenzie-Childs teamed up with Kerber's Farm to create the best little host gift, and/or gift to send across the miles. It's perfectly priced for gifting, and only available at

Vanilla Glazed Blackberry Peach Coffee Cake
This moist as can be cake is studded with fresh blackberries, swirled with cream cheese, and topped with sweet peaches. It's the perfect late Summer Sunday morning recipe.

Caramel Flans
Who can really resist these ooey gooey and wobbly custard cups? You can find a collection of ramekins HERE

Salted Caramel Apple Galette
One of my favorite things to make is a caramel sauce. I love to have some on hand, as it seems to go with almost everything, especially ice cream. This is an easy recipe for those of you afraid of pie crust.

Cheesy Baked Mozzarella Sticks
This is the easiest and most satisfying recipe for a snack that everyone will love. It's served with a Marinara sauce for dipping.

Williams Sonoma Goldtouch® Nonstick 6-Piece Essentials Bakeware Set
The gold standard for your luxe kitchen.

Chocolate Drizzled Buttery Pecan and Caramelized Condensed Milk Sandwich Cookies
Cookies......who doesn't love a little cookie? I actually judge a restaurant by whether they offer cookies on their dessert menu. These sound divine!

Ash Wood Baker's Rolling Pin
For when you are rolling in dough. This will be the last rolling pin you ever need to buy.

Chocolate Banana Bread Muffins Stuffed With Reese's Peanut Butter Cup
This recipe has my name all over it, and deserved two photos. The last pic tells the story.

Apple Toffee Crunch Cake
Is this not the picture of Fall? This recipe is everything you could want from an Autumn dessert. Where's a fork?

Rosemary Focaccia Bread
Oh just give me a glass of wine to go along with this rich and wonderful recipe. It's easy to make with its' standout ingredients of olive oil, fresh rosemary, and flaked sea salt.

Heirloom Children & Adult Aprons
Some of my favorite childhood memories were made in the kitchen with my Mom and Grandmother.  I in turn, shared my love of cooking with "Miss Shop This." We made many messes and goodies together. "Each apron is packaged within a small preserves jar and includes three blank recipe cards to start your family recipe collection, an heirloom tag for capturing generations in the kitchen, and an apron story card." Love these!

Blackberry Cherry Lavender Scones
{ Gluten Free & Vegan }
A fresh tender scone is hard to beat. Unless your scone is bursting with cherries, blackberries, and the subtle scents of lavender and vanilla. Sounds and looks magical!
You can find an assortment of edible lavender at Amazon. Recipe at

Cheesecake Stuffed Baked Donuts
I have to say, this carb avoiding girl has a hard time resisting a donut. Give me one that tastes like a classic cheesecake, but with a touch of cinnamon and in donut form, and I am in heaven, Mmm mmm!

Warm Chocolate Chip Cookies Stuffed Soft Pretzels
Not exactly the prettiest photo, but I just know that this recipe is filled with beautiful bites. I couldn't care less how this not so pretty pretzel looks. How about you?
