15 Winter Warming Soup Recipes

They say, the best way to a man (or woman's) heart is through the stomach. So I thought that I would slide into your inbox for the first time in 2022, with a warm and wonderful Foodie Friday. I hope you are well, and had a happy holiday. Now let's warm up with a big bowl of soup.

Lighter Creamy Broccoli Cheddar Soup
As the new year begins, many of us are thinking of ways to eat healthier. And though this recipe has its' sinful ingredients, it is lightened up with pureed cauliflower and coconut milk. Don't forget to add a chunk of crusty bread!

Carrot and Red Pepper Soup With Harissa
What a pretty presentation! This recipe begins with a sheet pan loaded with a treasure trove of veggies. The result is just stunning!

Matzo Ball Soup with Chicken Meatballs
Talk about chicken soup for the soul! This recipe is for the entire body. It features everything but the kitchen sink. The secret to its' tastiness is the homemade chicken broth. The ultimate hug in a bowl.
Foodie Crush

Boeuf Bourguignon Soup
The beef in this recipe is short ribs. Not exactly heart healthy but hearty just the same. And as you might suspect, the recipe calls for a cup (or two) of red wine. YUM!

Instant Pot Chicken Tortilla Soup
One of my favorite all time soups. The textures and flavors are really delicious. If you don't have one of these pots, never fear. You can use the stove or even a slow cooker.

If you are looking for a good Instant Pot, Macy's has quite a few on a limited time special.

Creamy Buffalo Cauliflower Soup
Hard to believe that this soup is so creamy and decadent without any cheese at all! If you love Buffalo wings, you will love this soup.

Shrimp With Chochoyotes in Smoky, Herby Broth
Coastal Oaxaca in a bowl. The broth is light and a great compliment to the masa dumplings, which are so cute. The shrimp, of course, are the main event. I am going to try this.

Oyster Stew
This recipe brings me back to my Dad. He and I loved oysters any way we could get them. The best bowl of oyster stew I have ever had (many times) was at The Oyster Bar at The Plaza Hotel. That and a glass of champagne is all this girl ever needed. This recipe looks like it
 measures up.

Creamy Mushroom Soup
"This recipe for Creamy Mushroom Soup is very simple to make yet deeply satisfying.  Rosemary and garlic “chips” are added to the mix for beautiful flavor and texture." It calls for flour, but feel free to use GF flour, as well. The richness is accentuated with sour cream.

Roasted Butternut Squash Soup With Sage
This recipe is vegan adaptable. If you follow it as written, you will use apples, sage, and heavy cream or coconut milk.  Simple and sensational.
Feasting At Home

Slow Cooker Black Bean & Chorizo Soup
Here's a Cuban take on one of my favorite soups of all time. It is easy to make and extremely meaty and creamy. Talk about comfort food!

Onion Soup Gratinee
""The secret is to take your time - a good onion soup is never rushed. It's essential to use the right cheese as well - Fontina and Gruyère are non-negotiable." My thoughts exactly. Here's your dinner, wine included, for any night this Winter.

Asian Chicken Zoodle Soup
Heather, herself, calls this recipe "next level" souping. It's filled with fresh flavors. Very low in carbs, and paleo approved. I'm trying this one, too.
Heather Christo

Beer Cheese Soup
Creamy, cheesy, bacon-y comfort food.
Need I say more?

Chipotle Tomato Soup With Smoked Cheddar Pull Apart Bread
This recipe is really two for the price of one. Together they create a beyond delicious duo. Most tomato soups are boring to me. Not this recipe. It had me at "chipotle!"

Foodie Friday: Chinese Cooking At Home

{ Via: Sandra Lee }

Chinese New Year, the year of the dog, starts today and is celebrated for 15 days. It's the most important holiday of the year for the Chinese. There will be huge feasts, parades, and dressing up.  It is also a time to wish loved ones good fortune for the future. One way that we all can get in on the fun, is to attempt a few recipes in our own kitchens.  I mean, why order in, when you can make it yourself? Grab a chopstick, some five spice, and let's get cooking and celebrating.

HERE: 23 Recipes & Cooks Tools

General Tso's Chicken
Always found on a Chinese menu, but I have never ordered it.  (I have weird "thing" about warm chicken.)  "This recipe is crunchy, sweet, and salty. This quintessential chicken stir fry makes for a satisfying dinner for two on a cold night." I may have to try it.
Saveur

Chinese Chicken and Brussels Sprouts Egg Rolls With Sweet Chile Pomegranate Sauce
Crispy, crunchy, and colorful! That sauce really looks divine.
Half Baked Harvest

Cantonese Style Ginger Scallion Lobster
Often part of a ten course Chinese Wedding banquet, this dish can easily stand on its' own. It does call for live lobsters, but I would certainly substitute lobster tails.
The Woks Of Life

Pork Wonton Soup
Doesn't this look like a big bowl of comfort?
Gourmet Traveller

Bamboo Steamers
Exclusive and ever so handy. Bamboo steamers are the traditional, healthy way to cook vegetables, fish, dim sum, dumplings and more.
Sur La Table

Paleo Asian Sweet Potato Noodles with Pork Ginger Meatballs
When a dish looks this good, has incredible flavors, and is high in protein, not to mention healthy, it is a winner.  This dish is also GF, dairy and egg free and Paleo and Whole30 friendly. Perfection!
Heather Christo

Chinese Five-Spice Pork Tacos with Nectarine Salsa
I have to say, that I never thought about making a Chinese style taco. This recipe looks so fresh!
Williams Sonoma Taste

Kung Pao Brussels Sprouts
Roasted Brussels sprouts tossed with spicy Kung Pao sauce! I think that my family would love these.
Cookie and Kate

Slow Cooker Cashew Chicken
Browning the chicken is the only real work it takes to make this dish.  It just couldn't be any easier. Love a cashew, too!
The Cookie Rookie

Char Siu
This looks wonderful. The recipe, however, is for the ambitious chef. You have to begin the preparation two days ahead of time!

Pineapple Cookies For Chinese
New Year
These beautiful bun-like cookies are filled with homemade pineapple jam.

Chinese Deep Fried Oysters With Dipping Sauce
My Father and I so enjoyed our Fried Oysters. We ate them many ways but never Chinese style. In his honor, I must make this recipe.

Egg Foo Yung
This dish is always my order at a Chinese restaurant. According to the author, "This lacy golden omelette with a filling of ground pork, shrimp, bean sprouts, and scallions was originally created as a special occasion dish."

Kimchi Chicken And Bacon Fried Rice
With bacon and pineapple, this recipe includes all of the good things in life. Oh Yum!
Half Baked Harvest

Chinese Hat Tuiles
These cookies are made of fortune-cookie batter but shaped to look like a Chinese hat. Serve them with Green Tea Sorbet. How cute!
Martha Stewart

Shiitake-and-Scallion Lo Mein
Silky Chinese noodles are served in banana leaves instead of on a plate. I may have featured this recipe before, but they are so stylish they are worth repeating!

Chinese Vegetarian Noodle Soup
A hearty one bowl dinner that can be put together in 20 minutes. Interesting that it calls for maple syrup, which I often use as a sweetener, too.

5 Easy Dipping Sauce Recipes for Dumplings
These sauces cover all of the bases for any Chinese dish that you can imagine.

Eight Treasure Rice Pudding
A very pretty and traditional Chinese New Year dessert. The number eight is a magic number for the Chinese, making this the perfect ending to any celebration!

Stainless Steel Chopsticks
A five pair set that adds a touch of elegance to your meal.

Prawn Rice Paper Rolls With Hoisin Dipping Sauce
Now here is a Chinese New Year appetizer if I ever saw one! Instead of a fried egg roll, make it healthier and serve these.

Chinese Chicken Skewers
Made with chicken thighs, but I would substitute breasts.  The meat is marinated for at least 30 minutes, but the rest of the directions are easy. This is a must make.
