The "it" accessory of Spring 2020 and beyond, is one designers couldn't see coming. The facial mask has made its' debut in a big way. Now mandatory in many cities, they have become hard to find. The makers at Etsy have risen to the challenge, and I'm happy to support these small businesses.  This post features some of my favorites.  We are using face masks for serious reasons, but that doesn't mean we should forget

My Birthday Wish

It's my birthday! And isn't Mother Nature pulling the biggest April Fool trick ever? This will be a birthday to remember, not only for me, but for Ali MacGraw, and all of the other Pisces and Aries peeps in the world. I for one, call for a half birthday celebration in the future. This year my birthday wish is for you all to support fashion brands that are supporting our current Coronavirus Crisis. I know that shopping isn't top priority right now. But if you need {want} to make a purchase, start here first.

Nordstrom
The Seattle-based department store is working with Kaas Tailored and its teams in California, Texas, Oregon, and Washington. They will sew more than 100,000 masks that will be given to the company to use for sanitation purposes as it continues to stay open. Nordstrom will also donate masks to Providence Health and Services, and it’s been giving to local charities like Seattle Foundation and Youth Care.  Nordstrom happens to be having a big Spring Sale now, so
it's a good time to shop!

Nike
Nike has pledged a total of more than $15 million to help fight COVID-19, including major donations to the Oregon Food Bank, the Oregon Community Recovery Fund, and the Oregon Health and Service University. The Nike Foundation is giving $1 million to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, as well as to various response funds around the world.

Coach
In the spirit of giving back and lifting up their community, The Coach Foundation—in partnership with Goldman Sachs and New York City—is a founding partner of NYC’s Small Business Continuity Fund to help the most vulnerable businesses affected by COVID-19. They have committed $2 million to this fund to help the places and the people that make New York the vibrant and unique community
 it is today.

America’s oldest retailer, today announced its response to the urgent call from the White House and other state and local leaders for medical supplies. The Company is in the process of converting its' New York, North Carolina, and Massachusetts factories from manufacturing ties, shirts and suits, to now making masks and gowns.

Gap
The Gap Foundation will be donating over $1 million to local, state, national and international non-profit organizations. In addition, a small and mighty team in the company connected their expansive global supply chain and longstanding suppliers with California hospital networks. These include Sutter Health and Kaiser, to deliver millions of PPE – specifically masks and protective gowns and goggles.

Fashion label Alice + Olivia is teaming with No Kid Hungry to combat COVID-19, donating 10 percent of online sales back to the organization. It's a good time to shop her website. Everything is reduced by 25% - 30%.

Shop To Support Small Businesses

People are hurting.  So many are sick, (my daughter included,) lonely, and out of work. It all just breaks my heart. Many small businesses are closing and laying off workers. You and I can help, by doing what we do best.....shop! Small businesses need support now more than ever. Here's a stylish selection of small shops that feature fabulous furnishings for the home, amazing artwork, pretty papers, indie fashion and tasty treats.

Society 6
"Society 6 is home to hundreds of thousands of artists from around the globe, uploading and selling their original works as 30+ premium consumer goods from Art Prints to Throw Blankets. " Every purchase pays an artist.
Simple, but huge. The above artwork is by artist, Dharanie HB. Check out their Artist Showcase

You may have noticed that I try to include this small business in most of my "home decor" posts. The reason why is that their products are simply beautiful. They are a customer service company first and a design company second. I love their mantra about home decor ~ Fine Living Simply Designed. You will find hand picked and artisan made furniture and decor. And if you are stumped with your own design needs, you can speak to a design concierge. Take advantage of their current sale and save 20% today with Code: HOMELOVE20

Smart & Elegant Stationery with Palm Beach Style! It's a great shop for gifting too. Loving these calling cards. Even if you aren't employed, there is a need for these. It's a stylish shop with a chic collection of stationery, mouse pads, note pads, and more.

A small business with one store in Richmond, Virginia. That store is temporarily closed, but their website is open. Currently they are offering 25% off sitewide - sale items and full priced included. There are a few exceptions. You will find clothing for men and women at all price points, and new this year, a home goods section. I love their website. I think you will, too.
Curators of the best artisanal food products in America, made by passionate makers. They support and source small batch Indie foods like  Wild Country Wild Flower Honey by Sola Bee in Northern California. Or Kentuckian Matt Jamie's Bourbon Barrel Foods like bourbon smoked sea salt and bourbon smoked sugar. The Black Truffle Cheese from Vermont is delicious! It's all good and so very interesting.  If you know someone that is lonely or ill during these difficult days, a tasty gift from here would surely cheer them up!

Stuck On Hue
This Etsy shop offers designer pillow covers in vibrant colors and patterns, custom-made with uncompromising quality. Owner Hollie Rich has curated a fabric collection from iconic brands like Schumacher, Kravet and Pierre Frey, as well as indie brands like Flat Vernacular and LuRu Home. I know that you will find a pillow that will transform your space.
