Feeling Fancy For Under $500

The Red Carpet designer looks at the Oscars cost tens of thousands of dollars. Most of our own budgets are a bit less than that for special occasions. So I challenged myself to find ten fabulous fancy frocks at the more affordable price point of under $500. Who will you be wearing?

Asymmetrical Turtleneck Midi Dress
Loving the sheer details of this dress. The high low length is also an added style bonus. Best of all is the price. Only $228
BCBGMAXAZRIA

Lake Studio Lame Dress
Cut from exquisite fabric, this frock is the ultimate cocktail dress. Add a leather jacket to edge it up. It has been reduced by 70% and now only $230.

The Shindig Dress
Modern and sophisticated, this look can take you from day to night. $374.99
Trina Turk

Peyton Blouse
Pair this blouse with anything black in your wardrobe or wear it tone on tone as shown. On sale for $445.
Sachin & Babi

Bec & Bridge Midi
Whenever I see a long sleeve dressy dress, it is cause for celebration. The shade of peppermint is pretty, and the asymmetrical hem
is alluring. $290

Kay Unger
Dramatic and dreamy. Perfect for those who do not like to bare their arms, the sheer cape adds a soft focus illusion. $298
Neiman Marcus

Self Portrait Liliana Dress
Both sweet and sassy, this peek-a-boo dress looks fresh for Spring. $490
Shopbop

Sequin One Shoulder Dress
Did you notice all of the one shoulder dresses at the oscars? It's a big trend this season. The knit fabrication gives you day or evening wearable options. $385
Farm Rio

 The Larissa
Available in black and a deep green, this dress brings the drama. Those sleeves are everything. $299
Fame & Partners

Shimmering with metallic sequins, this gorgeous gown is a beautiful buy! Was $1,595 and now $479.

Saturdays At Shop This: Oscar Edition

{ Via: Vogue  }

It's a little odd that today's post focuses on the Oscars, since I haven't seen a darn movie. We hope to rectify that with a movie date on Valentine's Day.  Margot Robbi, shown above is a two time Oscar nominee this year.  Love her sophisticated but simple look. Scroll down for all things Oscar like swag bag items, fashion, food and more.

Even more than the gowns at The Oscars, I love the hair and beauty on the red carpet. Rita Hazan's shine balm is part of the swag that the actors and directors receive. Shop this beauty brand at
Dermstore and get free shipping.

Another freebie for the celebs is a beautiful Alpaca Throw by Johanna Howard. See it in dip dyed classic blue at
One Kings Lane

Under The Stars: While the stars are getting their beauty sleep, they also are receiving some extra star power. Another gift, that sounds very cool is the "BlissLights SkyLite Galaxy Projector." It's Amazon's #1 Best Selling nightlight. Bring the outside in. Perfect for the kiddies, too.

Oscar De La Renta will be represented on the red carpet. Rumor has it that pink might be big this year. I wonder if anyone will wear Look #32 from the Spring Collection or Look # 18 from the Fall Collection. Both are
dreamy confections.

One of Hollywood's best known skincare experts is Kate Somerville. I bet that she hasn't had an open appointment for a month or two. Her clinic is delightful, and "Miss Shop This" thought it was the best facial ever. Lucky for us all we can get her products on line. What to start with? Exfolikate! Get a free gift with purchase this weekend.

The Oscars Governors Ball:  The menu will be 70% plant based this year. How fabulous! Studies show that a plant based diet keeps away disease and inflammation. I have not gone there yet, but it is a goal for the year, at least for part of my meals.  Goop offers some very interesting articles, menues, recipes and plant based products. Worth a look.

Kenneth Jay Lane Jewelry: Big name celebrities have long worn his jewelry. Click here to see stars like Liz Taylor, Jane Fonda, Katy Perry and more, in his designs. Shop his website and save 25% sitewide. Code: VDAY20

Celebrity Make Up Tips: Sir John, the superstar makeup artist who works with the likes of Cate Blanchett and Jessica Chastain, states that his clients are looking for that "lit from within" look. Take another peek at my post: Red Carpet Beauty for products that illuminate.

Who will wear what remains to be seen.  Enjoy the show, and remember to always go for the gold!
