Saturdays At Shop This

Cheers to the weekend! Was this not the fastest week ever?  But like you, I am ready for an easy weekend, after last.  Here's what caught my eye lately.

And to start your weekend and summer off right, here's a recipe for  a Frozen Aperol Peach Margarita. It looks like the perfect dessert to me.

On the subject of cocktails, I just found the most unusual but perfect glass for serving  G & T's (Gin & Tonics.) You gotta see this special glass. It's at Food52

A Chic Cotton Scalloped Shirt Jacket. This terrific topper has details for days. I just love it. Give it a click!

The perfect summer wedding guest look by Oscar De La Renta! So pretty in pink silk.

One of my fave sales of the weekend is at Philosophy. Save 30% on the entire website. I love the smaller sizes of the shower gels for little gifts. And can you ever have too much Grace? :)

Step into Summer in Stewart Weitzman new styles. The collection in their outlet is all under $150.  I love how you can shop by size. Nothing is worse than falling in love with a shoe, then finding it is out in your size.

Oh just be cool! The Fieldbox coolers are just that. We have one. On Last year's road trip, it kept things cold for 24 hours. It's the perfect fun and functional gift. Dad might love it, if he enjoys a cool one.

Speaking of Dads.....tonight is your last chance to save 20% on Men's Styles at Shopbop. Use Code: TAKE20

A warm weather must have: Beekman 1802's Wipes. I use them to remove makeup. But they are great for cooling off, especially perfect for golfers and paddle players. Keep one at home and one in your gym bag.  QVC currently has a great sale on them with free shipping.

Meet The Minerals: In case you missed it. Read about the very best non toxic sunscreens out there.

Gloss Meets Balm. I just received my order of Westman Atelier's Clean Liquid Lip Balm. It's my new favorite. There is no stickiness, it feels great, and I love the tinted sheen it gives your lips. I bought the nude. So it looks like my lips but better. Plus, the presentation is fabulous. The elegant black case comes with its' own gold embossed black felt bag. Very chic, and worth the money.

A new (to me) shampoo: Aveda's Sap Moss.  My hair stylist introduced it to me for it's ability to moisturize hair without weighing it down, especially fine hair like mine. I am loving it after a week.  It's plant based, and has a very botanical scent. In other words, it smells like the forest. You can find it at Nordstrom.

At the minimum, you need to pick out the perfect card for Dad. Find unique styles at Etsy. They ship for free, too.

Have a beautiful weekend!

Sunshine on Your Shoulder

{ Via: Jonathan Adler }

As the song goes, "Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy." In the Summer, I try to get an hour of sun everyday. It does wonderful things for my mental attitude and Vitamin D levels. Yes, I do use a "mineral sunscreen," and have been off the chemical stuff for years.  Each sunscreen featured here will also have the EWG safety rating listed. Personally, I wouldn't use anything with a rating of more than 2. Today's post will have you totally sun-set with suncare and beach accessories!

The Best Sunscreens & The Toxic Ones
to Avoid
If you are confused about sunscreens, this article spells it all out. It lists the good ones, the bad, the best. You'll learn about what chemicals cause cancer or skin irritation. I call this the Bible on the subject of sunscreens.
Dr. Axe

Beautycounter Countersun
With an overall EWG rating of 2, it also has won the Allure Beauty award for sunscreens. A bonus is that it is ocean friendly! Please note that the Spray Mist version is not recommended with an EWG score of 6.
Beautycounter

WG scientists reviewed the Biossance Squalane + Zinc Sheer Mineral Sunscreen, on March 10, 2020 for safety according to the methodology outlined in the Skin Deep Cosmetics Database. It is rated 1-2 on all ingredient levels.

This is the perfect solution for anyone who is active: It’s water-resistant up to eighty minutes, SPF 30, and really nicely priced. I used this all last Summer. Loved it. No scent.  It has an EWG rating of  2 out of 10.

bareMinerals Faux Tan
If you are looking for zero sunshine, but want to look tan, here's your answer. I use this product for touchups on my arms and chest. It is great and gives you the lightest color that's never orange. Using the brush is key! The product never touches your hands. It has a EWG rating of 2. Find a special offer at...

Saturdays At Shop This: Ending On A Positive Note

What a sad week in life and news. First Kate Spade's tragic death, and now Anthony Bourdain.  What this world needs is more talking and most importantly more listening.....less shouting. Those who are hurting are usually the most quiet. Kate's voice lives on through her family and her company foundation, which provides grants to low income New York City women in tech, the arts and entrepreneurship. How fabulous! Learn more about this  foundation HERE. And get to know the beneficiaries HERE. Let's wrap up the week with some positive and helpful links.

When going through hard times, it is helpful to remember the good times with gratefulness and a smile. One of those for me was a very special birthday spent at The Carlyle Hotel in NYC. That experience makes me excited about the upcoming documentary "Always At the Carlyle." It's a look behind the scenes of the famous hotel with George Clooney, Naomi Campbell, and more. Read about
