It's exciting because you are likely to see old friends and family. Dressing up is always a sign of respect to your hosts, the bride and groom, and the occasion. This pretty post will put you on the best dressed guest list for any type of wedding.
~ Black Tie & Black Tie Optional ~
Personally, I wear just about the same type of dress/pants to each one of these kind of weddings. Mr. Shop This always opts for a tuxedo, and we like to dress with the same vibe. These dress codes call for a very dressy look, and always means a tie for a man.
The most expensive of the edit, and of course, my favorite. Everything about the look is such a modern way to be formal. I would so wear this.

Cocktail attire is a bit wide in interpretation. Most likely your event is after 5PM. If it is just cocktails without dinner or dancing, one can be a bit more casual. If all of the above is included, then feel free to dress up.
