Valentine's Day, Lunar New Year, Mardi Gras - it has been hard to decide what to feature on Fridays. Though the Lunar celebration ends on February 26th, most people love Asian cuisine, any day of the year, except for me. It's not my favorite, but even I would try any one of these dishes! Enjoy. Wishing you good luck and good eating in the new year.
Black Pepper Crab
With southeast Asian roots, this dish has personality. Be warned though, the crabs are deep fried! Probably makes them even better.
Sheet Pan Sticky Gochujang Chicken Meatballs
Here's a dish that I have never had, let alone cook it! It's said to be super quick to come together. Surprisingly, it is rather healthy!
Ba Bao Fan (Eight-Treasure Rice)
How appealing is this dessert? The key is to use a selection of eight (for luck) dried and candied fruits.
Crispy Sticky Asian Fried Cauliflower
Vegan & Gluten Free
Deep fried cauliflower with a sweet, spicy and sticky sauce. What's not to like?
Heather ChristoPer China Highlights, the lucky saying associated with eating spring rolls is "黄金万两 (hwung-jin wan-lyang), meaning "a ton of gold," suggesting that the spring rolls resemble gold bars. These are made with Tofu, but you could substitute your
fave veggie.
This recipe had me at Sweet Potato noodles! Healthy and oh so colorful! I think I need a spiralizer. Found this one at Amazon. Get the recipe at
Potsticker Soup
This recipe is said to be embarrassingly easy. It's made with potstickers from Trader Joes. Ahhhh! That's why it is so easy. I haven't bought premade food fresh or frozen in years. So if you make it, let me know how it was.
Char Siu
Chinese BBQ Chicken
Fermented red beans add that classic red color. This dish is said to be packed with an incredible depth of flavor.
The star of this dish must be the pomegranate sauce with sweet chile. It's a five star recipe that couldn't look better in my book!
Easy Asian Hot Pot
The hot pot is the one simple cooking method that crosses over to nearly all Asian cuisines. And I have never had it. Consider it an Asian fondue. Looks yummy and fun.

Fried Rice with Shrimp and Broccolini
If I was dreaming of Asian food, this would be the dish in my mind. It gets a little heat from Sriracha and cilantro adds the freshness.
The magic to this crispy chicken is brining it for 36 hours in a soy sauce mixture. Then, it is air dried completely, and roasted at 400 degrees. Of course, ginger, soy sauce, garlic, sugar and oyster sauce add the flavor.
I make homemade ice cream about every ten days for "Mr. Shop This." I have made salted caramel, butterscotch, peppermint, even Mexican chocolate with tequila. Must admit that I had not thought about green tea. Must be delicious. Other ingredients include white chocolate, dark chocolate, edible rose petals, and of course, green tea.
