It's been quite a week. Everything about this inauguration was "unique." I watched every minute of it, and enjoyed both the fashion and the music. Today's post features a little bit of all of that.
Dr. Jill Biden wore a custom coat and dress by emerging designer, Markarian. There's a Markarian Trunk Show going on at Moda Operandi. It's all feminine and sparkly, like the First Lady's look.

Poet, Amanda Gorman's Prada hair headband made quite the statement. You can get the look for less with the Victoire headband at Anthropologie for $20. And all of these Lele Sadoughi styles at Neiman Marcus are pretty,
as well.

The girls wore pearls! Always a classic fashion statement, pearls were on parade Wednesday, with Vice President Harris W. Rosado necklace. You can get the look with the Marco Bicego Lunario Collar Necklace at Nordstrom. This Ippolita Lollitini sterling silver necklace at Neiman's also is a
similar style.

Jennifer Lopez song made me cry and so did her Chanel outfit! She was dressed in custom white Chanel. The sequined wide legged pants were fabulous! And so are Temperley London's Neri pants at

I loved both Dr. Biden's and daughter Ashley's outfits for the Celebrating America evening event. Dr. Biden wore a divine dress by Gabriela Hearst. You can see this designer's collection, which focuses on modern luxury, at Matches Fashion. Ashley wore a Tuxedo by Ralph Lauren that featured cigarette pants and an undone bow tie. Very hip. Net-a-Porter has a page full of stylish elements to create your own tuxedo look.

Beauty looks were important, too. Lady Gaga made a statement with a bold lip in her own brand, Haus Laboratories. She wore the Le Monster Matte Lip crayon in "warm pure red."

Did you not love all of those coats with matching gloves? The looks were just so chic. I think this will become a new Winter trend. But colorful gloves are hard to find. These Maison Margiela long gloves in bright marigold or green are quite lovely. And MSGM's long leather gloves in hot orchid are
show stoppers.

I loved that every participant in the ceremonies wore a mask! Nowadays, the mask is our most important accessory. Many of the women had theirs made to match the outfits. For us mere mortals, Jennifer Behr's masks are still the most special.

And finally, let's talk about the monochrome looks of the day. Almost every woman on stage wore one color, head to toe. I loved how the Biden grand daughters looked. As Harper's Bazaar wrote regarding the trend: "one where perfectly-tailored, fashion-forward suiting from America's emerging designers will be seen on main stages as often as classic menswear." Way to go, Girls."
This fireworks display and song by Katy Perry left me spellbound. Here's to new beginnings and a hopeful America.
XOXOX
