Serenity Now: Rose Quartz & Serenity -The Colors Of The Year

Via Coco & Confetti

For the first time ever, Pantone has chosen two shades as the "colors" of the year. They are pretty, especially when blurred together. Black is always my color of choice, so wearing or decorating in a pretty pastel is not in my comfort zone.  If you are like myself, let's think about pairing rose and blue with a darker shade. Here is what Pantone has to say about their color choice for 2016.

HERE:  15 Pretty Pantone Picks

Sample Swatches
When viewed as above, the colors are are quite simple and classic. What's new is how the world of fashion and home interiors will use them this year. What's old is new again.

 Vanity Fair Hair
Very early to the trend was singer, Kesha. She rocked this hairdo featuring a blend of rose quartz and serenity blue in 2013.

Camilla Elphick Metallic Boots
This is how you wear boots this Spring.

Ericson Beamon Crystal Cuff
I'm a huge fan of this NYC based jewelry line. Lou and Grey offers a curated collection of their color rich crystal designs.

Nasty Gal Closer Thigh High Stiletto Boot
Nasty Gal says: "Keep your friends close and your thigh high boots closer." How fun are these?

Fendi Peekaboo Mini Beaded Flower Satchel Bag
Now we're talking! I'd play peekaboo with this beautiful bag any day. Get your name on the pre-order list now. Warning, it is as expensive as it looks.

Riley Play Stool
A modern spin on a classic milking stool. Perfect for a child sized table or as a prop for books and toys.

Orfilia Ombre Sweater
Casual luxe. Lovely in a soft blue cashmere.

RabLabs Large Kiva Platter
Made by master craftsmen in Brazil, these pretty platters are perfect for pairing your favorite wine with artisanal cheese or displaying amazing appetizers. RabLabs have taken the term "Rose Quartz" to another level.

Movin On Up Top
Beautiful with bell sleeves. This top is a chic choice for dress up or casual.

Teetotum Honeycombs
Frivolous and fun, these paper lanterns have been greatly reduced. I can see them as decor for a bridal shower or hanging in a baby nursery. Pretty!

Decorating with Rose Quartz
The only way that I could decorate with a pastel like Rose is by pairing it with a darker shade. Pink and black always reminds me of a chic Chanel suit. This is a fun and whimsical look.

Gilded Rim Coupe
Cheers to the color of the year! A toast with pink champagne coupes.

Sephora + Pantone Universe
Leave it to Sephora to be first in line for a collaboration with Pantone Universe. This collection is only available for a limited time. If you are wondering how to wear a blue lipstick, here's a pro tip from Sephora:  "Apply either Rose Quartz or Serenity to your bottom lip and then rub the top into it for a modern, light gradient effect. Make sure there is enough color on the top and if not, reapply to the bottom lip again and repeat." Go play with these pretty shades at

Serenity Blue Interiors
While I can't imagine living within a blue interior, I have to admit it is a calming color. Vary the shades of blue, as in this wall treatment, and you bring the drama.
