The Beatles & The Best Of British Designers

Today's post was inspired by last night's Grammy salute to The Beatles.
The celebration of their 50th Anniversary tour in America, and debut on The Ed Sullivan Show, had me on my feet. Four bobbed British boys took the stage in skinny pants and pointy toe shoes.  The world has never been the same, and neither has British fashion design.

Burberry
Nothing is more iconic Brit than Burberry.  Established in 1856 by Thomas Burberry, who also invented "gabardine" in 1880.  The Burberry Trench Coat was designed as practical wear to be worn in the trenches by officers in World War I.  Today, we still equate the trench with Burberry, just today, it is updated in python, calfskin, patent leather or cowhide.
