Selling New York

I've done my fair share of real estate shopping in New York. Every once in a while you find something that is so fabulous and well....so New York.  That's why I love HGTV'S Show, Selling New York, It's armchair shopping at its' best. Episode #608 features a young poker players playground penthouse in the East Village. Obviously, he played his cards right. Here's what you get for $3.99 Million. Wheeeeee!

The fun factor in this penthouse is the
$250,000 stainless steel slide.

There is also a staircase for the less adventurous. Look at that outdoor space!

The fun continues in the game room with
a glass and stainless steel pool table, and more
outdoor space.

Follow the yellow stripes to another
playful room.

Take a New York minute and give yourself
a virtual tour below.

Mod Monday

Spring 2013 Trend: Mod Squad

One of my favorite runway trends, turns back the hands of time. You will see an ode to Sixties Mod, with bold, graphic patterns and
retro shapes.

Moschino's Applique Stretch Cotton Dress
features two of Spring's trends, a graphic mod print in black and white. Love it. It's expensive but great fun.

Michael Kors infused Spring fashion with shots of bold color in retro shapes. Wear it head to toe. His Pocket Skirt in crepe with matching top is a big dose of sixties sunshine.

Lisa Perry always does a mod look...which I love.  The Domino Dress is an easy to wear dress for women of all ages.

One of my fave looks. Proenza Schouler really
leathered up on the runway for Spring. This suit is a mod squad sensation! I can't find this exact suit
for sale, but Barney's has many of their
leather pieces.

Kate Spade's window pain in black and white is
accessorized with white out nails and a pop of geek chic. Find all the pretty pieces at
Kate Spade.

Vuitton had, perhaps the most graphic runway
presentation.  Checks and stylish stripes were
certainly not your Grandma's gingham or pinstripes.

007 Babies

Last Sunday Adele won the Oscar for Best Original Song. Last October James Bond's 007, celebrated its' 50th anniversary. Soon your baby can have its' own 007 moment with the announcement of Aston Martin's new Silver Cross Baby Stroller - the perfect ride for a Junior James Bond!

Said to be the ultimate Baby travel system from two British Icons, Silver Cross and Aston Martin.
Handcrafted and made with the same Italian leather that the sports car is, this new set of wheels is a limited edition of only 800. Each pram will come with its' own certificate of authenticity.  For $3,000, perhaps it should come with a bond girl to walk the lucky child!

If you know of a secret agent, silver spoon
baby, who simply must have this royal ride....or the sky will fall....find it exclusively at Harrods.

Get in the mood to stroll with Adele's Oscar performance below.

Not Too Shabby......

.......Shabby Chic, that is.

I'm a city girl, living in a glass and granite building, high above the city streets below.  My lifestyle is about as opposite of "Shabby Chic," as one can be.  But I have secretly always loved this decor style.  In fact, if I ever have a country or beach house, at least one room will be wall to wall shabby chic couture!

You can purchase an autographed copy here~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~  ~

The creator and owner, Rachel Ashwell, opened her first shop in SantaMonica, CA in 1989.  Over the years, Rachel has opened and closed stores, and created a wholesale business and licensing programs, all the while "staying true to her core values and aesthetics......the beauty of imperfection."  Today, there are four Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic Couture stores, located in Santa Monica, Soho, New York, and London’s Notting Hill neighborhood.  Then there is the Interior Design Service and her Bed and Breakfast in Texas. Not too shabby, indeed!

The Soho Store

Rachel has a way with flowers.  I guess opposites attract, as I don't believe I own a single floral item.  Isn't this tablescape and
cake she designed for a friend's country birthday simply divine?

Rachel states that this cake is from
the grocery store!  She added the roses.

Here are my fave edits from Rachel's
chic collection

Silver Crown Linen Dinner Napkins
Tea with the Queen?

Rachel's website and stores offer vintage finds, like these blueberry crates, that Rachel sources on her travels.

One of Rachel's star finds, as seen on her blog.
