Cozy Up In A Chic Cape or Playful Poncho

{Via: Natori}

Vogue tells us that a luxe cape is one of the fall trends to follow. The word "luxe" must be short for expensive, because most of them are just that. I have found a few that won't totally break the bank.  There seems to be a fine line between a cape and a poncho.  Both styles, serve the same purpose as a terrific transitional topper. If you dislike coats, one of these just may be your answer.

Weekend Wrap Up

Well, this week really flew by! I must admit that I had a little trouble getting back in the groove after a long fun filled weekend. Even though it was a short week, I found plenty of good things to share with you like Jen Aniston's new haircare line, Everything you need to know for making the best pizza ever, my new fave self tanner, and more. Enjoy these links.

Leather Weather? Not yet. It's hot, hot, hot here.  If we were to wear leather today, it would need to to be air conditioned. Not so with this metallic leather bracelet.  The So-Le Studio cuff is super chic. Designed by Maria Sole Ferragamo, who happens to be the granddaughter of Salvatore Ferragamo. Find it at Moda Operandi

Boot Camp for Summer-Damaged Hair. If your hair has seen too much sun, sea salt, or chlorine, here's help. Goop has some terrific tips and perfect products for us all!

Faux but fabulous! I tried the St. Tropez Self Tanning products for the first time. I love it! So easy to apply. It must be goof proof, because I did it! The color is just what I wanted...light to medium tan. I would say it lasted about 8-10 days for me. No smell at all. I bought two of the starter kits. Find all sizes at Dermstore. Highly recommended.

A Lancome Sale! Head to HSN for a fabulous little sale on Lancome skincare and makeup. Best yet, it all ships for free.

I am a bit candle obsessed. The good ones are so expensive. The lesser priced candles aren't so chic.  These shops feature all price points, shapes, scents, and sizes. My favorite shop is Aerangis. The scents are so interesting. The owner will even craft a bespoke fragrance just for you. It's all very sophisticated.

Presto Pesto! Recipes For The End Of Summer

Experienced some Internet issues yesterday, and had to scratch the planned post. So I bring to you, from the archives, a fan favorite: Presto Pesto! One of my favorite condiments is pesto. When invited over to my home, you'll be served it in one form or another. I have grown a big crop of basil this Summer, which has been so much fun. If you are in a cooking rut, pesto will add the pizazz to any dish. Here's inspiration.

Best Easy Pesto
This can be whipped up in five minutes. And that is why I make several times a week with fresh basil from my garden. This is a good recipe that creates a creamy sauce. I will add my pro tips: Go easy on the olive oil...use a little at a time, until you get a thick creamy sauce. Also, you absolutely do not need nuts. I make them both ways. And if you don't have basil, kale, spinach, or almost any green veggie will work. Experiment!

Grilled Caprese Pesto Chicken Skewers
There is nothing better grilled on a skewer than chicken, unless it is chicken tossed in pesto. All of this yumminess is served over creamy burrata cheese with a simple honey balsamic dressing.

Parmesan Pesto Bread
Move over garlic bread, there's a new loaf in town. I am not a bread baker, but my Mom was. They say this bread is not tough to make, but I don't know.....

Baby Heirloom Tomato Burrata Pizza with Basil Pesto
My vote for prettiest pizza. The creamy burrata melts into a thick cheesy sauce. Those heirlooms add the beauty and the sweetness. Delish!

Pesto Tuna Caprese Cucumber Bites
Cute as can be, these are beautiful bites. They are topped off with a drizzle of homemade balsamic glaze.

Avocado Basil Pesto Zucchini Noodles
A very fresh and lo-cal option for lunch or dinner. Serve it with a grilled chicken breast for a extra protein.

Green Garlic Pesto With Jammy Eggs & Radishes
What a unique way to serve pesto! And by "green garlic" they do mean garlic on the stalk.  I should have picked some up from the farmers Market today. My pesto has this kind of consistency. It's spreadable and not too oily.

Basil Arugula Pesto Pasta With Garlicky Shrimp
I don't think that a dish could be more visually appealing. To get shrimps that look this good and perfectly pink, you poach them for only about three minutes.
Heather Christo

Parmesan Pesto Roasted Potatoes
Roasted potatoes can't be beat. We have been doing a lot of them lately, but nothing with pesto! Why hadn't I thought of this?
Recipe Runner

Best Baked Salmon with Pesto Recipe
Beautifully plated and can be ready in just 20 minutes!

Spicy Pesto and Cheese Stuffed Zucchini Involtini
Here's what to do with all of that late summer Zucchini. It's perfect for when you are craving Italian, because the zucchini replaces pasta. Brilliant! I love the way it looks, too.

Strawberry Granita with Sweet Pesto
With some creativity, pesto can be served for every course. This recipe is not only pretty, it will be very unexpected for your guests.

Cantaloupe Prosciutto Skewers
This may be the prettiest appetizer ever. It's served with a lemon mint pesto. Yum. Yum.

Fall Layers To Love

{ Via: Clare V }

I do hope that you all had a good long weekend. Mine was great, but I am glad to be back shopping with you. Funny that this post about layering was scheduled for today. The heat index will be 100 here in The Hudson Valley! We all know that those chilly nights and cooler days are coming. Here's how to stay warm while looking cool.

Merino Cashmere Side Vest Snood
I don't have a snood or a cashmere vest. Do you? Love it with the frilly blouse, but it would be equally good with a turtleneck.

Maeve Polka Dot Cardi
How fun! This long cardi is not short on style. Black and white dots are trending this season.
Anthropologie

Tabitha Moto
Hello Moto. The moto jacket will always be a favorite layer for cool girl style. Designed with luxe leather, and meant to go with everything.

Donley Fleece Jacket
Here's an elegant take on the traditional fleece. Light enough to wear indoors, and heavy enough to layer for outdoors. The color elevates this basic.

Simkhai Andi Cardigan
Cute as can be and very much on trend. Peplum's are in for this season. They are very flattering to most.

Floral Quilted Jacket
Brighten up anything you wear with this quilted cotton jacket.

Relaxed Heritage Trench Coat
In celebration of J. Crew's 40th Anniversary, they have put together The Icon Collection. It's a collab with an icon herself, Lauren Hutton. This trench is timeless. The color makes it a terrific transitional piece.
            J Crew

Pharoaoh Knit Kimono
Just perfect for now through Fall. This style is so like the iconic Missoni fabric, but yet the cost is under $100. Availbale in three colorways.

Knit Fringe Cardigan Wrap
This is your budget buy of the day. Make a statement while staying warm and cozy. You will throw this wrap over everything. Less than $60.
Varley Half Zip Vine Top
Just about my favorite top that I own. I reach for it time and time again. Love my black version, but want a 2nd top this year. It comes in 16 shades. Shown above is "mushroom." Love it.

Morse Code Cashmere Knit Wrap
Elyse Maguire's wonderful wrap actually spells out the word "love" in morse code. You will style this wrap many different ways.
Textured Weave Jacket
Shopping on a budget? Here's a look that won't bust the budget (it's under $75.) I think that you will agree that it looks more expensive than that. I love the boucle-like texture. It's classically modern.

Cinq a Sept Lou Denim Jacket
Why be like the others, darling? This denim piece has been elevated with details like topstitching, princess seams, and statement sleeves. I couldn't love a jacket more. The matching pants are great fun, as well.

Emma Embroidered Wool Shrug
A versatile addition to your wardrobe that will elevate even a simple tee shirt. Love it!
