Foodie Friday: With A Cherry On Top

Cherry season is one of the shortest of all fruits.  Maybe that's what makes them so appealing. I just realized today that I have not done a spotlight post on cherries before. So here we go. Enjoy this roundup of 14 sweet, savory, and tart recipes.

Bourbon Cherry Old Fashion
This recipe reminds me of my Dad. He loved a good old fashion, and always put extra cherries in it. Tip: use a high quality bourbon, as it is a key player in this drink.

Cherry & Herb Salad
Love a fruit added to a savory salad? I certainly do. This salad sounds delicious on it's own, but could also be used as a relish for grilled meats and fish.

Sour Cherry Sorbet
I make homemade ice cream bi-weekly, but have never tried sorbet. This recipe is simple to make and totally vegan. Sweet, tart, tasty!

Cherry and Peach Panzanella
The author describes this recipe best: "Freshly made croutons. Burrata cheese. Basil. Lemon Champagne vinaigrette. Done and done." I'm in. What about you?

Grilled Pork Loin Chops with Balsamic Thyme Cherries
Grilled pork chops are our "go to" in Summer. This sauce will elevate the experience!

Almond Poppyseed Pancakes With Cherry Syrup
Oh yes, please! What a fun and tasty twist on your average pancake. So company worthy.

Cherry Ricotta Bruschetta
The perfect bite to enjoy while the main course is on the grill. Pretty enough to serve with cocktails.

Cherry Moscow Mules
I have always loved the presentation of one of these drinks, but I am not a vodka drinker. The good news is that this recipe offers other liquor substitutions. Now we are talking!

Radicchio, Peach, And Cherry Summer Salad
This colorful salad is said to be a crowd pleaser. It's so different. For those of you that don't mind taking the easy way out, it calls for Ken's Vidalia
Onion dressing.
Bakers Royal

Easy Baked Cherry Cheesecake
Easy and show stopping! What more can a baker want from a recipe?

Frozen Cherry Cosmos
Aren't these fun? I hope that they are as good as they look. Make up a batch of these and your guests will never leave!

Cherry Meringue Pie
I learned to make meringue from my Grandmother at a very young age....nine maybe. And I still love it, and enjoy making it, What a beautiful pie, and so much more creative than your average
 cherry creation.
Delicious Magazine

Roast Pork Rack With Cherry
Ginger Relish
What a fabulous looking dish! Keep this recipe for a very special occasion.
Gourmet Traveller

Chocolate Cherry Scones
Oh my, don't these look wonderful? It almost feels as if you are having brownies for breakfast. If you worry about sugar consumption, the refined stuff has been swapped out for maple syrup. That's a good thing!

Black and white is always right. And these geometric shapes add up to cosmopolitan chic.

I'm wild about this look. Super good on a wooden table, but fun wherever you use them. The touch of gold elevates the spots. The wine glasses are good!
