Foodie Friday: Warm Up With 19 Soup & Stew Recipes

After fighting a cold Winter's day or night, we all deserve a little love and a warm hug. Nothing does that better than a hearty bowl of soup. It's time to kick the can (of soup) and create your own Winter warmer. Several of the recipes below are more love than labor and can be whipped up in 30 minutes, giving you more time to cuddle up by the fire!

Global Design.Edited.

Chicken Pot Pie Soup
Is this not the cutest thing you ever saw? It's really a one dish dinner, and no one will be able to resist it.
How Sweet It Is

Pork-and-Kale Soup with Sizzling Puffed Rice
Recipe of Edward Lee, chef and owner of Louisville, Kentucky’s 610 Magnolia, the Wine Studio, and Top Chef Season 9 contestant.  This dish literally sizzles with style and the last minute addition of rice cakes!
Food and Wine

Spicy Sausage, Potato And Kale Soup
Said to be super easy to make, this recipe features the trendiest vegetable of all - kale! If it wasn't for the little bit of heavy cream, this would be a real healthy choice. Love the individual soup servers. Le Creuset offers Mini Cocottes that are adorable.
The Candid Appetite

London Pea Souper
This darling dish is made with frozen peas, just like I do! There is a small list of interesting ingredients like mint, smoked sea salt and smoked eel fillets! I think I will omit the latter.
House and Garden UK

Cauliflower And Cheddar Soup
If you are like Mr. Shop This and love Cauliflower with Cheese Sauce, you will adore this recipe. It sounds rich and layered with flavors.
Gourmet Traveller

Leek Apple Cheddar Soup
Another stylish recipe. Love the presentation and drizzle of nuts and cranberries.
Running To The Kitchen

Chipotle Pumpkin Soup with Crispy Chorizo + Caramelized Apples.
This is such a simple soup, but it’s packed with spicy, sweet flavors.  And don't worry about the chorizo being too spicy. The sweet pumpkin and apples balance it all.
Half Baked Harvest

30-Minute Spicy Pork and Sweet Potato Stew
Smokey chipotle makes everything better for me. It is particularly good when paired with pork. A tenderloin of pork makes quick work of this recipe!
Food Network

Shrimp Bisque
Much like lobster bisque, ordering this special soup always seems like a celebration.  With the addition of sherry and the juice of oranges, it sounds like a treat!
Verses From My Kitchen

Creamy Asparagus Soup
Said to be lovely hot or cold, this recipe is on the lighter side as it is creamless. It does call for a "knob of butter." Whatever that is! The poached egg and toasted ciabatta bread takes this soup up a big notch!
Jamie Oliver

Cream of Rice Soup with Curry, Mushrooms, and Roasted Red Pepper Puree
Cream of rice soup? Really? This recipe jumped out at me, because it sounds so unique. The presentation is simply smashing! The beautiful colors come from both Parsley and Red Pepper Puree.
Melangery

Soothing Potato, Celery Root and Sunchoke Cream With Purple Potato Chips { Gluten Free }
By now, you know that I love pretty food. If one more step makes my dish more appealing, I take it.  Making homemade chips to go with this comfy creation is just plain thoughtful. Can't wait to try it.
Cannelle Vanille

Caprese Soup
This soup had me at the word Caprese. Then I glanced at the ingredients and saw Pesto! And that, my friends, is one of my favorite things to make. Sold!
Heather Christo

Curried Butternut Squash Broccoli Cheddar and Goat Cheese Soup
Cheese Lovers rejoice! This is just a bread bowl of ooey gooey goodness!

Lobster Corn Chowder
Adapted from The Barefoot Contessa's recipe, this big bowl of love is not difficult to make., but maybe a touch pricey. I want some right now!
A Pretty Life In The Suburbs

Cioppino Seafood Stew with Gremolata Toasts
One of my all time favorite dishes. It was a must order at Chicago's Bice Restaurant (now gone, sigh!).
The base of this stew is made a day in advance, and you can use any seafood, making it a perfect company dish.
Epicurious

Oyster Stew
Another one of my "favorite things."  Even if you don't like fresh oysters, but you like seafood, you will like this "good to the last drop" creation. It's creamy and rich, much like a good cream of mushroom soup. Be forewarned - no counting cals with this recipe.
Simply Recipes

Roasted Tomato Soup
Warm and hearty, it is made with a considerable amount of Balsamic Vinegar, which sells me! It's a great way to use those nasty Winter tomatoes that aren't good for anything else!
Food Republic

Thomas Keller's Butternut Soup {Gluten Free}
Made with Brown Butter, Sage, and Nutmeg Crème Fraîche. Sounds divine .
